Guess we'll get to see where the bulk over speed thing comes from this year. Chavis has traditionally liked speed in the back 7 and on the end.
LSU has a D that can't be pushed around and we do well against the traditional O's but CFB is going a different way. We're facing an Alabama style O less and less. I'd like to see a change to a quicker and faster D also.
But it will also help not to have guys stand in position and wait for the ball carrier to get to them, as we did for most of the year. Looked hesitant all the time.

you really believe this shite? So, when Bo, a Big 12 coach (former Big 10 player) got to LSU, Les says to him, " you see these small, quick LB's we have, I'd like to put about 20 lbs on them and slow their 40 time by .3 seconds." Moffitt, who came from Miami, agrees, saying, " yeah, speed at LB is just such a waste, and it never paid dividends for me when I coached under Butch."

I can agree that with Trev Faulk and Brady James(even though he's put on some serious muscle at Dallas), we had more speed at LB than we do with Beckwith and Riley. Is this what your getting at?

Marvin Mitchell was one big slow frick at LB for Chavis. But that may be part of the rant saying he hasn't had any talent for the past decade.

I thought he was more of a 4.7 player, but didn't cause much of a stir in the draft because he was small.

Both Mayo and Mitchell came out of Va and he got them away from Va Tech and Maryland. No SEC school other than Tenn offered them if I am correct. Seems to have some connections in VA. Kind of strange.
Only guy Chavis has listed this year at Tenn is Shackleford out of Bama who has an offer from LSU as per Scout but is a soft verbal to TN. He is three star and #28 SS LB as per Scout. Will qualify.
Mitchell was a three star and Mayo a four star. Neither was top ten though Mayo was close at #11 rated OLB.

beckwith regressed terribly with the injuries and all. his sophmore year in that arizona game i would've sworn that dude would've ended up a 1st rounder. He would close 10 yards in a heartbeat. This year he looked cripple.

In my opinion, Cutrera played pretty damn well in relief of Beckwith, despite his own issues.
I think better coaching will correct most of the problems, though.
