I might be wrong but I think he could have played LB last season as well. I have always been a fan of the old Miami philosophy. Recruit OLB's for DE, recruit safeties for OLB. You get as much speed on the field as possible. This has become more and more needed with the spread offenses nowadays.

good news is all the position coaches are out so chavis can play around with the positions if he wants too

i honestly think our LB corps next year could easily end up
WLB: baker
MLB: riley
SLB: jones
with hawkins at FS and mccray at SS
Coleman?

i really think hawkins is our diamond in the rough to play as a roving FS

how long after the bowl game does chavis make the push to get our LBs down to the 215-230 range? riley and sheppard need to lose some weight to fit into chavis' D (cutrera doesn't really fit the mold)
will moffit adapt accordingly?
He won't make them lose weight... he'll move them to DE

Alem could blow up next year.

This is the best possible news for Mingo. He is going to get some great coaching and thrive in the system.

I was about to bring him up. This prolly cements him to DE.

i don't think those were "big" LBs coming out a few years ago
we have different definitions of big then, because both had big frames and were not developed coming out...it was easy to see them being 225+

besides that, Riley is not slow - he will look faster when he knows where he is supposed to go and what his responsibilities are

225+ is different than 240+

what makes you think Riley weighs over 240?

Anything to get him out of man coverage. I'd like to see them mive Jai around also. He's small but to my surprise he was our best tacking DB last year.
Chavis probably sounded giddy on the radio a couple of days ago after looking at film of the talent in the LSU secondary. After this recruiting year we could put a #1 ranked recruit in every position.

What mold does a slow, bad tackling, LB fit into?

So I take it your good with this hire?
