Very good points everyone. Like I've said before, I don't think CJC would leave for anywhere at this point. It's only been one year for goodness sakes. I would be thrilled, but I don't see it happening. I just hope we don't get some young up and comer who hasn't proven much yet, like a Manny Diaz, and go out and get someone proven as a DC. I'm tired of having piss poor defenses!

I think he would leave to be closer to home, but that would be it. I also have heard he doesn't get along with our secondary coach. Those would be the only two reasons he would leave imo.

Good luck on finding a new coordinator. I would like to see UGA return to its form maintaining the strength of the SEC from top to bottom.

I heard this rumor from some other posts. Do you think that Miles may favor one over the other? If so, whom does he favor?

Things could definitely change between now and after the bowl game as far as who ends up at UGA as their DC.

have not heard this. Chavis and Miles interviewed Cooper together (remember Chief was hired already).

Definite possibility. Richt has publicly stated twice now that we would have someone announced by the 2nd week in January. That seems to me like we're waiting on someone who has a January bowl game or maybe an NFLer. Honestly, I don't think anybody really has any sort of clue at this point.

Do yall know what the problem between Chavis and the other coach is? Or do they just flat out don't mesh?
Posted on 12/25/09 at 10:00 am to WG_Dawg
Things will open up later and I doubt you all hire someone before January. However, this year there is not quite as much movement around the country by coaches (for salary increases or being fired) as schools are being hit hard fiscally. Colorado couldn't even afford to fire Hawkins.

I heard on here and from someone else(through word of mouth) off TD that they just don't get along. Different philosophy. Cooper(Secondary coach) has been a DC and head coach before, so he might have issues with answering to someone else. It's just a rumor, though.

Maybe Cooper is a little annoyed by the fact Chavis's lack of pressure on the QB is leaving his secondary out to dry. That's just my guess if there really is a rift.

Neil Cornrich, Jimmy Sexton, Russ Campbell, Bryan Harlan and Trace Armstrong. These are Sports Agents, many coahes are using them now, not just head coaches, OC, DC and Position Coaches. Many schools will contact them first and put out feelers.
On the other hand Headhunters may be used, this keeps name out of the paper, Football Boards, Etc. I've talked with one of these guys before. They do the hunting while everyone sits back.
Speaking of sitting back, many do this. Sometimes the right jobs never opens up. Sometimes you have to take a bad job and make it the right job.
I'll talk with coaching friends at times, they will fill me in on moves. Its fun to see how things unfold. Some moves move real quick, others seem to drag.
I was going out to eat one time with a coaching friend and he says, "Hang on, I need to make a call."
This is all that he said, "Hey man you got the offer?"
"What did you tell him?"
"Great."
"Talk with you later."
Then he tells me, "He took the job, lets go eat!"

Good info LSUDad. That would explain why it's been so quiet regarding official information coming out about the search.

If Chavis leaves it will be because the LSU fanbase is INSANE.
If you are not a life-long Tiger fan, I do not know why you would put up with half of the shite our nitwit fans say about the coaches and players. Things are really bad and if they stay that way, the fanbase will get the program it deserves (years like 1999).

I'll admit this is just internet hearsay and probably false. BUT, there is a poster on the Dawgvent (the $$$ UGA rivals site) who is claiming some pretty specific info
THIS is your definition of "picking up steam"? A single poster on a message board?

exactly. Just because someone hasn't "officially interviewed" means nothing, honestly.

In his defense, we have a couple of posters with enough credibility to give a rumor steam.
If I were a betting man, I'd say that Richt is going the NFL route. There is no reason not to announce a DC change right now if it's a college level coach - in fact, it's pretty routine to do so. NFL coaches can't be mentioned until after the season.

I think this is a real possibility. I have no idea why any decent coach with options and any amount of self-respect would actually want to work around this fanbase. You can make as much money with far less abuse someplace else.

This is nuts....
Secondly, the coach or HC needs to use the media to set expectations ...what they are addressing..in practice...otherwise...the fan base decides for you their expectations.. then you have lost control...and the negativity goes spiraling out of control...which it has around our fan base
Saban was a master at setting expectations (using media) and deflecting blame onto the players..
Not under the bus, but he communicated what was needed very effectively, and that gave the fan base a lot of confidence that things would get better
