Very true, and I think that UGA stacks up quite well in that department compared to any other SEC school. Especially LSU, which we would be in direct competition with in this particular situation.

Dude, he is not a UT man as much as you want to believe it. Yes, he coached there for over 10 years. Yes, he's had connections there, but just because you played at a place and coached there does not mean you can't go anywhere else. Hell, he went to LSU and knew based on his contract, he'd face UT twice if he fulfilled it.

Secondly. Spurrier not played at UF, but won a Heisman there and then coached there for 10+ years only to come back to South Carolina. Why? Fricking golf courses were what sold him. I'd think Chavis' family is more important to him that UT.

His allegiance is as much to Fulmer as to UT anyhow, so unless Fulmer goes back there, I don't think it matters.

Muschamp was a UGA alum and coached at LSU and Auburn (a huge UGA rival). Fisher was an Auburn alum and coached at LSU which is a huge rival.

Notice anything there?

Family is the key, and he may take a slightly lower salary to go to UGA. To think UGA doesn't have the money LSU does would be stupid to say the least.

I think UGA's advantage is its much closer to family, especially Athens. Period. Right now both schools' head coaches have seat warmers, and they might just spontaneously combust based on their teams' performances next year. If UGA is willing to offer 3 years at a little less annual salary than LSU for the 2 remaining years, the pull to be closer to family and have a little more guaranteed money may lure him away.

People really think that some of these guys only care about money? They've all pretty much made good money for years, I think family is the key for some of them moreso than $50-100K a year when they are making $400K + to begin with.

Incorrect. Louisiana produces the most NFL players per capita. And LSU has no instate rival to compete with for them.

I doubt it. All of the major programs spend a ton of money, and all of their fans think their respective progams can outspend everybody. You see the same thing said on every team's message board. Have you seen what LSU is paying its staff?

1 may be correct
2 may be correct
3 isn't even close. Louisiana is a more talent rich state than Georgia and LSU has no competition for its in state recruits. In Georgia, you have Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Bama, and Ga Tech to compete with
4 isn't even close to being accurate either. Who makes more? Miles or Richt? Miles. Our coordinators all make more than their UGA counterparts. So I'm not sure why you would have incorrectly assumed that UGA could pay more. It can't and it won't.
Let's face it. UGA isn't in LSU's league right now. They are closer to Auburn and Tennessee than LSU, Florida, or Bama. It will be very important for Richt to get a DC in there that is competent. He is going to need to turn it around next year. And you might be able to lure Chavis to Athens due to proximity, etc. But it definitely won't be because of talent or more money because those are strongly in LSU's favor.

1) I agree but this is really a matter of opinion to some.
2) Maybe right; both show loyalty and I hear both are great to work for; I think this is a wash

Recruiting areas are about equal, but yes LSU does not have the instate competition that we do nor someone like UT that has always had strong recruiting ties to Georgia.

I dont know for a fact which school has the most money, but I do know that UGA is the 2nd or 3rd highest grossing athletic department and also has a lot of big time contributors. So I would imagine that UGA could get in a bidding war with anyone, but the problem is the damn UGA President is a tool.
