So sick of hearing about the early signing period. WGAF?
Oh noo, we lost out on Arik Gilbert 2.0. An average recruiting class one year is way less negatively impactful than hiring some dud HC.

I’m more worried about hiring the next Dan Mullen rather than Ron Zook. Everyone knew from day 1 Zook was a disposable bargain option that could be gone at any point. They invested a lot in Mullen and it really hasn’t worked and it’s not looking good going forward.

Preach.
It's absurd to let an early signing day dictate a decision.
Most of LSU's class is coming regardless and you still have signing day left.
Not only that, but now you have the new transfer rules. So your best coach option available will have that to work as well.

Chickens been trying to tell yall to lower your expectations for a while. Weeks ago he laughing at people thinking Lsu had a shot with Jimbo or Riley.
Here he is again talking about Ron Zook. You better lower your expectations because he knows something. Sure Woodward can try to money whip someone, but other than that he is going to have to dig into Tier 2 candidates.

my point is that landing the big fish is difficult...it won't be Woodward's fault if he doesn't get one...It's all about the timing of the coaches being sought.
My problem with this is yes, it will be his fault if he fails. Posters on here have repeatedly said Woodward is a long term planner, smartest ad ever, blah, blah, blah.
Many have claimed Woodward had plans in place before firing O. Many said Woodward fired O mid season to get a head start on getting his man.
So, if Woodward fails to get his man, then Yes he has failed. He didn't fire O mid season so he could sign his 3rd or 4th pick.

Zook was a heckuva recruiter.
Does anyone recall who UF went after in '01?
FTR, Foley was one of the best ADs in SEC history.

If Lincoln or any other coach in the playoffs is woodwards guy, he will wait. This is a 10 year hire not a 1 year hire.

If this is the current situation just say frick it and roll the dice on Napier. Assuming we've missed on the big guys above him. If he doesn't pan out you saved some money on the hire and if you have to replace him it won't cost that much. Then maybe you wind up with your rock solid replacement. The market doesn't always work the same.

So is Orgeron the Spurrier in this analogy?
Anyone who makes that analogy should be banned.

That’s why I think if it’s not someone in a conference championship, it’ll be announced after the last regular season game.
If it’s someone in their conference championship, but they don’t make the playoffs, it’ll be the week after December 5th. If it’s not announced by then, then we’ll know it’s either a playoff coach or a coach in the NFL

Last 3 Head Coaches, all won National Championships here, Florida can't say this.

Chicken I see what you are saying. Ogeron is Zook after swinging and missing on Herman...so now we get our version of Urban Meyer...which is....Urban Meyer...solid

or trying to steer the narrative towards a weaker candidate to gain influence like the rest of BR sports talk dudes -> now on the outside looking in.

Big fish hires are rare...Do you think Sark was a big fish for Texas? Was Kirby Smart a big fish when he was hired by Georgia? How about Ryan Day? Dabo?
Most hires are coaches who are up and comers...
