Seems that by all accounts Brian Kelly is a complete jerk. Supposedly the Notre Dame administration is happy to see him go, mainly because he is an overbearing tyrant and a jerk. Sound familiar?

If Saban were at ND the last dozen years, would he have a similar resume? Or 6 NCs?

There was a highly upvoted post on here before the hiring that said BK was the biggest piece of shite in college football.

After the hire, anyone who has said they don’t like it are downvoted to oblivion.

People are fricking nuts lol

I wonder if he ever threatened to put any of the admins at the bottom of a fishing hole or trash-talked opposing fans like it was his job? Surely he never busted into a fishing camp ready to throw hands because someone mentioned that maybe he should win more games? He'll be just fine.

Who cares? We want to win games, not have Mr. Rogers as a coach.

People say this but are then unable to give specifics

High achievers don't like mediocre people and mediocre people don't like high achievers. Sustaining success requires an insane work ethic, drive, and constant accountability to those on your team.

Saban is one of the few to do it for a long period of time. Many, many people around the Bama program think he is an a-hole.

I will take an a-hole if he wins and is fair/moral with his treatment of others.

In a few years, I suspect ND will wish they had been able to keep the guy that are glad to see leave now.

Would Saban have taken a job in a program that limits recruiting possibilities?

From an article this past February:

https://www.southbendtribune.com/story/sports/college/2021/02/06/assessing-the-state-of-notre-dame-recruiting-and-the-persistent-question-of-academics/43897899/

quote:

How many of the nation’s top 100 players, in a given recruiting cycle, can Notre Dame reasonably pursue, who can get into school at ND and who would be considered fits at Notre Dame?

“It varies per recruiting cycle,” Elston said during a sort of pop-up recruiting symposium involving four key Irish assistant coaches and essentially emceed by Kelly, the only one who didn’t take questions from the media.

“I would say less than half are guys that we can target and go after for one reason or another.”

And how good is Saban with that level of talent? Would his record look more like Bama record, his LSU record, or his Sparty record?

There is no real way to know this, is there. But the guy has had the #1 recruiting class on 24/7 9 times in 15 seasons since taking the Bama job. top 5 class every year except 2007. Top 3 all but 3 seasons. 6 NC's in that time. With only half (or less) of the top talent in those recruiting classes even available to him, how many does he win?

That was the knock on Saban when he went to the NFL. LSU didn’t really make an effort to keep him here. Personally I think coaches should not be malleable towards the administration BC if they meddle and the team doesn’t win, no responsibility will be accepted by the admin. Ergo good coach = jerk.

Well they all sure cried and bitched and howled a lot for being glad to see him go.

I would bet money that this is not true. If you gave ND's admin the option to let Kelly go a month ago with no money needing to be paid, they would've said no way.

Sour grapes is all it is.

Spot on!!! I couldn’t think of a Coach or person who epitomizes the LSU program more than Brian Kelly.
