He currently has the #2 QB for ‘22 and #7 QB for ‘23 committed. Both guys we recruited hard and turned us down. One from our backyard.
And yeah, I guess you can blame Jimbo for their 2nd string QB not being as good as the starter. He still beat Bama with Calzada.

We never have to worry about recruiting. It’s evaluation and development. Hiring a good staff to do that. And establishing a good culture.

I get some peoples concerns on his qb recruiting and development at aTm. I have my own concerns. And my hope is that aspect improves here. But we’re getting someone who will bring consistency. I would make the same argument with a Brian Kelly hire. The football program will be in good hands.

His offense is outdated

He just beat Alabama with that outdated offense. It's not LSU 2019 offense, but still good enough to beat LSU 2 out of the last 3 years and beat Alabama in 2021.

I have my doubts as well, but I think the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. He has skins on the wall and he’s the more of a proven commodity than any other candidate.

Absolutely not. Malzhan beat Bama too and I want nothing to do with him.

If in fact it is Jimbo, I wonder when they’ll announce it

I’m not ecstatic with Jimbo, but we could do a lot worse.

I said when O was hired, “at least he can recruit, when he inevitably flames out, at least we’ll have a relatively stocked cupboard”. And, except for OL, we by and large do.

Now look at the absolute wreckage of ashes of a dumpster fire Jimbo left behind in Tallahassee.

This would be a HUGE mistake of a hire, especially with what it would take to outbid his existing contract. And all because he beat Saban, once? Sumlin and O both did that.

This an objectively verifiable mistake. Napier at least has an upside vs Jimbo’s objectively known, indisputable downside(s).

His offenses are really not that good. Since the back end of FSU he hasn't done a good job developing QBs. Mond robbed someone of a third-round pick. He wasn't a good QB. At all. I don't know how he got drafted so high someone must've saw potential in him but he readily had streaks of just pure suck.

Jimbo's offenses are an issue not because of scheme but his execution and play calling. It may be a little hyperbole to compare him to Les Miles but this essentially what you're getting. A guy who will win you 9 games a year, have an off year every 3-4 years, recruit great, run an inconsistent offense, have trouble developing QBs, rely on playing great defense. Sound familiar?

Most A&M fans would probably be happy we'd take their mistake off their hands. Ask yourself why Jimbo is so quick to leave programs he has built up when the worst adversity starts to show up. His starter got hurt this year and back end of FSU he really shite the bed. But hey, we'd probably win one with him at least once since we could do it with Special Ed and grass eating Miles.

At least with Jimbo you know what you are going to get and what to expect. I think we would see 10-2/11-1 seasons with sprinkled in West championships and maybe a NC or two.

For the type of money we're talking about to bring Jimbo over you seriously couldn't aim higher? I find that very hard to believe.

If he comes to LSU, which right now he is, he is going to be a force in recruiting. A&M is only relevant with TX recruits. LSU has the fertile state of Louisiana and Jimbo has now developed contacts all over the south. He will absolutely kill it here.

I hope he doesn’t kill our program like he did to FSU’s especially with what it would take to outbid what A&M is already paying.

ETA:
I’ve ALWAYS been a HUGE Jimbo fan. I wanted him to take over the program when Saban left and he was my first choice to take over for Miles. But that was before he left FSU in utter shambles. And he’s been fair to middling at A&M, at best.

No they wouldn’t. They’re praying he doesn’t leave. This is the best their program has been since the 90’s.
