It's kind of been the consensus around here on sports talk radio (not that it's discussed much) that it was between Kiffin and Orlando (who is the interim) with an outside chance of Applewhite. Les was basically disregarded.

I was lurking on a Texas board yesterday and they are saying that it looks like Orlando will probably end up their DC. I think Aranda may have been mentioned as an outside possibility at one point, but not anymore. So with them talking about Orlando going there, I wonder if Kiffin to Houston is close to being done at this point. We'll see. No word yet on Applewhite going to Texas, but I think if Herman wants it, it will happen.

All speculation on my part, but unfortunately Kiffin and Applewhite are looking less and less likely as options for us. I wouldn't be disappointed if Gilbert came here, though. Texas had a great offense this year.

our insiders are now bought and paid for with the current regime. What we hear is what they'll want us to hear. For fricks sake we have a former morning DJ answering facebook messages about who is and who is not on our OC list. This whole thing feels like a terrible dream

Im not grasping why you let this bother you so much. The guy does nothing for the product on the field. Absolutely nothing. I'm sorry, but like you said, the guy is a mouthpiece and that's it. I get you and a few others are BR sports radio aficionados and have hated the guy for years and this doesn't help....but when someone mentions the guys name, should you look into taking a xanax or something? A shot of whiskey?

To be fair, I'm the same way about this board and I'm not sure why I let dumb people rustle me. I'm not sure who's dumber.... Them, or me for replying to them.

Well, the lesbian track coach was upset because she was fired and Applewhite was not. But she slept with a player that she coached (and could revoke her scholarship) whereas Applewhite slept with a university employee that did not report to him. I believe UT is ok now with Applewhite coaching again.

It's still not being ruled out. There's been no straight answer from Texas about it. I think if Herman is really pushing for it, it's a big possibility.

If not, I would love Applewhite as an option.

the track coach had it made, coach the team and get her carpet munched on at any moment's notice.

false. I talked to applewhite's brother Saturday. Applewhite is very much an option if we want him.

I would rather have Canada or Riley at OC for maybe 5 or 6 years than Kiffin for 2. A great OC with LSU talent plus stability I believe is key here.

I have also heard that he was seriously consider other options besides working under Herman again...just because he wants to prove himself "on his own"...

I'm shocked Major would want an OC job at a top power 5 school (in his hometown) that's looking to pay at least 1.5mil.

Jesus. He gets like 300,000 right now at Houston. I would hope we get him for cheaper than 1.5 million.

I haven't hated DP for years...The guy has way too much influence given his background. You can deny it all you want, but O has continually lauded the guy publicly and even gave him a game ball following the A&M win. So say what you want but he's clearly someone that O values the opinion of. You show me another coach in the country that mentions his special assistant by name half as much O does and I'll shut up about it.

the whole point of this hire was to give us serious cash to go out and get the best. Major doesn't fit that criteria.

of course, this may be a ploy to get UT to pony up more money for him to come to Texas...
