It absolutely would be but don't tell some of these LSU fans. They put to much value into "relationships " in the coaching circle

yeah, I'm sure lane would love coaching for a guy that he hired at Tennessee and USC.

Precisely. I despise Bama, but god damn, i am not foolish enough to try and say LSU is currently on the same level as Bama.

Where Kiffen ends up is an unknown but it is a fact that his contract at bama runs out in Feb. FWIW. But I really cann't see any university's A.D. having the time or inclination to spread smoke to cover up any actual happening. If LSU is in negotiations with any one, word will leak, as there is no way certain TAF & BOS'ers are not kept in the loop. Random is simply providing info on what he's hearing. Take it as the gospel or BS but I for one appreciate it.

Oh come on, stop putting Bama on a pedestal...their fans do plenty of that...

they have had a lot of good fortune, repeat for the National title, Nick saban for 10 years, all this money they have for recruiting budget, at some point, at some point the tide will turn...

One decision, like "I am leaving" or "I am retiring"... and boom suddenly, Alabama is just like everyone else, right?

right?

it's not crazy a coach of theirs would want to coach with a close personal friend...get paid the same, for the same job

it's not nuts

Nick saban isn't a lot of fun to work for...so understand that much

Dude, i DESPISE Bama. DESPISE. Can i take a step back and look at the best run in recent college history? Sure. Do you disagree with me that Alabama holds that title? I mean come on. Really?

Dude that's not good fortune. That's called hiring Saban and him making the school a top football school again. The only "luck" was that he struck out in Miami.

Of course, but i said CURRENTLY LSU is not on the same level. I would love for us to beat the shite outta bama, but that hasn't been done in almost 5 years now. If you can't beat them in 5 years then how do you say my assessment is not accurate?

If he didn't have HC opportunities i would be more inclined to agree with you, but i just have a feeling he will bolt for an HC job this year.

I understand the guy seems like a miserable douche. I also understand that his coordinators always seem to end up as HCs somewhere. So Kiffin leaves to go to LSU and risk how good he looks now to "help out a buddy"? I don't buy that.

I hope i am wrong. We would need all the help we could get if O is HC since he has no real specialty on either side of the ball. I just don't see it happening.

A lateral move so that your boss doesn't yell at you and publicly humiliate you in front of millions. Why on earth would anyone do that!!

I really don't know what some of y'all expect the administration to come out and say right now? Should Alleva tell the media that Orgeron has no shot in hell to get the job no matter what he does? Of course he's gonna put the word out that O is a legit candidate. He has to support the guy in this role

I don't think it necessarily means any more than a show of support

No, I agree. That was mainly in response to the part about Coach O pushing to be named the coach ASAP. You know if he wins next week, fans will be emotionally clamoring for him to be named HC on Monday. If Alleva is influenced by the emotion, it would be disappointing.

I hear you. I can't imagine that happening though. The thing a lot of folks seem to be forgetting is how close we were last November to making a change. You have to know there's been a lot of dialogue through back channels since before the season started. This won't be an impulsive hire

would we take Art Briles as OC?

It's a terrible plan. Aranda and kiffin are both getting head coaching gigs in the very near future. Likely next year if not this year. Then where are we?
If Lsu goes cheap and easy on this hire like they did in the 80s and early 90s we'll get similar results.

This is such stupid thinking. You think LSU is suddenly going super cheap everywhere? O has even reported to have said he will take lower money to hire a better staff. We will outpay other schools for top staff.

I remember reading stuff from last year that the admin learned a lot about how to handle things in the future as far as a coaching search based on the way info got out last year.

What is complicating things in their search now is the dominating fashion O is winning. If he wins out that means they would potentially have to rescind an agreement with another coach. I mean, if O wins out there is zero possibility he wouldn't get the job and he should.

As far as him accepting less $, it makes sense to me. We are talking a million or multiple millions of dollars for his DREAM job. If you had the option to take your dream job for less money, yet that money still be astronomical, 99.9% of people take that job.

If I could have my own personal dream come true regarding all of this it would be:

1) LSU wins out and wins playoff
2) O gets a one time 3 yr contract with Aranda as head coach in waiting to take over at the end of that contract.
3) Information leaked to media that Baylor completely pinned everything on Briles as a scapegoat and he is exonerated and comes to LSU
4) Saban has a stroke that causes him a lasting deficit that only impacts his ability to maintain his drive for attention to detail thus rendering him mediocre as a coach. Watch the Bama fan base tear themselves apart.

I mean, it's only a dream.

Then what do we even need o as HC for? What would he be doing better as a HC than he could do as DL coach? He's not adding anything more by becoming HC. Aranda would be a better choice. At least one side of the ball would be locked down, and then only dependent on having a great offensive coordinator.

You want to put their fricking resumes side by side? Harbaugh did that for very different reasons. You really find that to be a valid comparison?
