Napier would be interesting
Otherwise a lower level HC is who they should look at.

You’re predicting that because as a fan that’s what you want to happen lol
That’s Baker’s job to lose
lol. Didn’t know you was a mind reader and “know what I want”.
Actually, I’m pretty tied into Tulane’s football program and have a few friends that are extremely tied in. No, I don’t have sauces are know anyone making decisions. That being said, I’ve been around the program enough to know their blue print for hiring a head coach: they prefer coaches with head coaching experience and who’s experienced success at the G5 level. The AD ruled out anyone without head coaching experience when they hired Sumrall. While he didn’t say that this time around, he said it was highly preferable and would be looked upon as a positive vs someone without experience.
I like Baker and think he will get his opportunity one day. I just THINK Tulane has seen recent success with their current blueprint, so why deviate from it? Especially when there are guys like Napier and Huff still on the market and knowing that if the next coach doesn’t work out, Blake would more than likely still be right up the road at LSU

If he takes it, more power to him, but I certainly hope he stays. I personally love his defensive scheme.

Agreed they should continue to go for the head coach route. Tho baker being an alum it’s hard to not see why they would go with him. Just risky

Baker could stay one more year and probably land at a better gig for HC but you then look at him trying to replace the last Tulane coach that got the job at UF as a defensive guy. Figure it is his job to lose at Tulane.
Well i'm sure Lane will find a good replacement.

Napier can coach. It's Florida

Baker will be with Kiffin next year. He interviewed this morning as a courtesy and for the experience but he wants to win at LSU and doesn’t want to move his kids again. Look for him to get a raise from lsu.

I sure hope he stays..... with Kiffin's offensive genius and Baker with that nasty defense, LSU will be kicking a$$ and taking names.

To someone else's point, I think this is a more long-term candidate for them. He needs career rehab and won't get hired away for a while. If Baker came in and won a lot, he could be gone in 2-3 years.
I think Tulane is prepared to be replacing him in 2-3 years. They knew that would be the case with Sumrall. They’d be foolish to look for someone who’s going to stay a long time

What’s the blueprint? Other than being successful sitting head coaches, Sumrall and Fritz have nothing in common. And Napier doesn’t fit that bill. He’s not a sitting head coach. Just got fired actually. So not that successful either.

He's a pretty perfect candidate for them. I selfishly want him to bomb the interview though
No the frick he’s not.
You realize our last two hires had HEAD coaching experience. Sumrall might have had only 2 years of head coaching experience but that is more than Baker.
We don’t need a dude who is learning how to be a head coach.

That's right because you're Tulane, by golly! Y'all get to call the shots!
