Really did feel like it worked only with multi-year system players and upperclassmen. Hard to do these days unless you're a BYU or something.
We had a fair number of experienced players in 2022, which is probably why House’s defense was functional his first season. Also, Brooks and Foucha came from Odom at Arkansas and he ran a lot of zone, so they were familiar with it.

From those names looks like it would be baker or dawson.
I thought someone on here said Tulane wanted shiel wood.
Baker is replaceable but it would be nice to keep everything together on that side of the ball.

maybe they’re sick of guys just going through the job
And that's how a currently successful G6 program takes a nosedive. You want guys who are going to work their assess off to succeed enough to get an SEC/Big 10 HC job offer at all costs.
We did that with Napier, then we fricked up and hired a dude as HC whose dream is to retire with UL.
Tulane lost Fritz to UofH, and followed up with another hire who was hungry AF for the next big job, and that's possibly played them into a CFP birth. They need to go after another hungry AF guy.

Napier who has had success at that level may stick around a bit longer.
Napier only works out for them if he's got the same hungry mentality he did at UL. If he's lost any of that edge and is looking to just "stick around a bit longer", then he's not the guy for Tulane.

There was a flight from Baton Rouge to Lexington, I wonder if LSU was vetting Stoops for DC?
Hell no.

Hopefully just to get experi3nce for the future, but if offered, Tulane would be a great place to get started as a HC

That's fair.
I agree it depends on his edge.

The game has passed Mark Stoops by. His d3f3nses have sucked for the last few years.

Im a little surprised that Tulane isn’t looking at more lower G5 head coaches like 2 years ago. Sumrall worked out very well for them. Huff is right there in Hattiesburg.

Definitely a name for Tulane to consider if they want to continue going to that well again.

Huff would be who I'd hire.

Napier is not a bad choice actually. Florida was wrong place wrong time. He knows Louisiana and has relationships here. He didn't forget how to coach at Florida. There are some good names on that list. While Baker is one of them, not a slam dunk that he gets the job.

He'd be in my Top 3 if I were Tulane's AD (I have zero clue how to run an athletic department). However, I think I'd make Baker tell me NO first.
If he did, then I'd figure out Napier's temperature. Like I stated below, he's got to be as hungry as he was at UL to recruit his arse off and win for that next SEC/Big 10 HC gig, or I don't want him.
And if that's the case, then I'd go after Huff hard.

Baker is a young up and coming coach and a former Tulane player. As long as he doesn’t bomb his interview he should be able to easily land the job

Good for everyone involved but if he stays next year and they play in well, he could likely get a much better gig.
Like Ole Miss! When it gets tough early in the season and Golding goes on a bender, that job will open up.

Napier would be attractive to Tulane because he has won big at the G5 level. And I would think Napier would be motivated as hell to win big at Tulane for another shot at the big time.
I hope Baker stays but I can only wish him well if he gets the Tulane job.

Out of that list, Blake is a no doubter to me. It sucks, but it is what it is. Miami OC is a pretty good playcaller, but if you're going to hire a coordinator with no hc experience, it might well be a Tulane alum.

Hes got to interview to get an offer so LSU can justify paying him $1.5 mill
Posted on 12/1/25 at 4:58 pm to 1999
Of course he’s going to interview. It doesn’t mean he’ll get it. I predict it’s Napier’s job to lose
