This quote just proves it’s not going to a big name Coach this time.

Basically he’s saying we are not in the $9 -$10m range.

I would put the range at somewhere between $5-$7m per year at 5 yrs max.

That knocks out a bunch of hopefuls in the Aggie wishlist.

quote:

“We have to get this contract right," Bjork said. “We can’t do what we did before... We’re not giving bonuses to go to the Liberty Bowl. The CFP, the first round, the quarterfinals, the semifinals, you host, you win the national championship. If you win the national championship, you’ll get paid like a national championship coach. That’s how we’re putting this package together."

This Jimbo contract is not only effecting the near term, but also the future.

Bjork-how does he still have a job?

I don’t think you’ll find a single Aggie who disagrees. No reason to commit 100 M unless you’re stealing Lanning, Day, Smart, etc. That isn’t happening this time. The contract we give out will likely still be in the top 15% of CFB.

He's trying to sound tough for the fans. He'll bend over and give up 9 figures when the hire's agent tells him to.

With the NIL A&M has it's no need to spend top dollar this time on a head coach. Now, I'd give the head coach a top of the industry budget for assistants.

He'll do whatever the big money boosters tell him to do.

Would much rather an up and comer than be someone’s retirement gig again.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's either Elko or fisch.

Yes because the last two years have clearly shown that NIL money is all it takes to be successful in college station.

But he’s considered one of the hottest commodities. He was a star at UGA. You want guy in the way up not on the way down (see Jimbo).

The way coaching salaries are now, it doesn't make sense to go out and try to poach big name coaches anymore. It just doesn't. LSU was in a bad bad spot, so they couldn't frick it up. I just don't see schools paying $10M guaranteed for a coach right now. NIL is where it's at.

That's the only way to get control of HIGH priced deals with coaches that don't produce.
