Meaning Muschamp has full control over all decisions concerning the defensive side of the ball from recruiting to in-game decisions and can't be overturned by Malzahn. Basically, it sounds like they're saying Muschamp is being offered Defensive Head Coach.

This is all from Jay G. Tate. Can't see how Malzahn would be cool with that nor do I see how that dynamic is a good recipe for success. Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't recall Pendry having full veto power over Saban on all offensive decisions.

Again, I'm not arguing that Muschamp would fail at AU. I just don't see Gus giving him that kind of power. Gus is a solid head coach and shouldn't have to give up complete control of half his team.

I believe the longer he takes to decide, the more likely it is that he will join his best friend Jimbo Fisher at FSU. Most of the Tribe are not happy with their defense.

It's basically what every offensive minded coach does. He pretty much did it with Ellis Johnson.

Chizik meddled in the shite he wasn't good at and it cost him. Malzahn isn't a defensive guy so why not defer to somebody that is?

I completely agree. I just don't think Muschamp would have full veto power if he ends up at AU. I don't think any DC should have that over a HC.

Is it odd that I though that was the role of a DC?

Gus is an accomplished enough coach, he doesn't need to be giving ultimate authority to ANYONE on HIS staff. Especially someone that was an utter failure at being a HC.

isn't this rhetorical though?

that's why offensive HC's should stay out of defensive gameplanning and vice versa...at least IMO.

Gus just wants to sit around and do mickey mouse offense things with his friends. He doesn't want to deal with the defense bro

It's odd for the HC not to have veto power over recruiting decisions on either side of the ball.

But all of that is coming from from Jay Tate, so I'd take all of it with a huge grain of salt. I don't see a HC out there not having veto power over the DC for anything, especially recruiting.

Ellis basically had the same power, but word is Gus had to step in after the LSU game this year due to conflict.
