You'd best keep petrino, and hire stoops as DC.

11/04 Update: Lashlee and Petrino are off the board, and we have to mention Gundy somewhere here as he is reportedly interested.

Possibly Realistically Possible Candidates:
1. Joey McGuire (Texas Tech HC)
2, Alex Golesh (USF HC)
3. Jon Sumrall (Tulane HC)
4. Ryan Silverfield (Memphis HC)

Wildcards:
1. James Franklin (fired from PSU)
2. PJ Fleck (Minn HC)
3. John Gruden
4. Matt Campbell (ISU)
5. Gus Malzahn (FSU OC)

Do What Now:
1. Mike Gundy (fired from OSU - reportedly interested)

Off The Board:
Rhett Lashlee (SMU HC - signed extension)
Bobby Petrino (too many losses as interim - officials have it out for him too)

I dont see any way you can pull McGuire. no way.

Sumrall gets either LSU or Auburn

Golesh is realistic as is Silverfield but if being honest....I think you would be much better off going with a wildcard

Mat Campbell isnt leaving Iowa State to go to Arky. I dont think Franklin would either, but if you could get him...it would be a good safe hire

IMO bringing Malzahn home or getting gruden would be my first choices....you have to do something different if you are Arky if you want to win

PJ would do well there...would have winning seasons but not by much. Gundy would be interesting but unless yall are willing to spend 25 million a season on a roster....gonna be hard to compete going forward.

What's the word on the Arkansas side about him? Just don't see him leaving TTech after the eagle guys dropping the bag

Forget what everyone else is saying! Arkansas should make him say no. He'd be the best fit.

I think this is also a great fit! Franklin has SEC roots and was consistently competitive in the SEC and Big 10 until this year following a departure of a lot of NFL talent. He just couldn't get over the Ohio State hurdle which seems to be a problem for everyone not named Harbaugh/Michigan. NO ONE will say Cignetti is a bad coach if Indiana loses bad to Ohio State this year again.

Everyone else would be question mark hire in my opinion, but someone could answer that question with good to great results if given the opportunity. Someone who has the fire and intelligence to succeed at Arkansas. Sumrall might be that guy, but he still hasn't done enough to show he's ready for an SEC school IMO.

Silverfield, maybe. Golesh is going to hold out for a better job than arkansas.

IMO bringing Malzahn home

I’d be shocked if he’s a head coach at a legitimate school again. He’s good at what he does on the offensive side of the ball but he’s proven he can’t run the show. And I’m not even sure he wants to

Would be the best hire off that list minus Joey McGuire

i dont think he does but imo the only one he could be pretty successful at would be Arky. just do to connections there etc.

just imo I think arkansas must do something different if they want to compete and if they are not going to be willing to spend in NIL going to be tough.

That's a good board for Arkansas. They seem to be fishing in a pond that they can be successful in and most on the list are quality coaches.

Honestly, that's what a good coaching search looks like.

We’ve got some big money finally involved. They are trying to pull off a Calipari move.

Why do people keep mentioning Jon Grudge in every damn coaching job?

He won a Superbowl 20 years ago and hasn't been relevant for awhile.

That’s not true at all. We have a top 15 paid roster in football right now.

That may be true but that is still like 12th in the SEC.

Because he’s made it abundantly clear he wants to get a job

And yet nobody has hired him. Repeated times. For like a decade now.

So the high IQ take is to keep bringing him up on these "hot boards"

There was the nfl lawsuit still hanging over him which has been resolved. I do think he’ll end up with a job somewhere.

You don’t seem to be very educated on this topic

Half the names on there are complete no-shots. Lashlee isn't leaving SMU for Arkansas. McGuire isn't leaving Texas Tech for Arkansas.

The hardest part for any coach is to START winning at a school. So if you are already winning and have great resources to continue to do so (which is the case for both of those guys), then why would you leave to go into a complete rebuild elsewhere to start from scratch? The only time it makes sense is if the new job is a clear step up. Which isn't the case at Arkansas as it is a bottom-tier SEC school and it doesn't offer enough benefits over Texas Tech or SMU.

The foundation & Tyson jet both took off from Drake within 10 minutes of each other. Both are going the same direction. We may have action.

Jon Gruden would only take a big-name job in college. The problem is that ZERO actual big name schools are going to hire a 60+ year old who has effectively no college experience and basically zero coaching relevance period in the last two decades. The last time he was relevant as a coach was 20+ years ago. His recent stint in Oakland produced zero winning seasons.

Maybe you should educate yourself, boss.
