I like Aranda for his intelligence, solid track record as DC and LSU familiarity.

Napier. I think you need an offensive minded coach for this team. Someone who QBs trust. We’re always gonna be loaded at skill positions, but we need someone to bring in Oline and QBs

I like many people over Napier.

Either one would be a great hire. I would pick Napier. I just think he has a Jay Johnson feel to him. Not that he's had near the success that CJJ had and is at a much smaller school, I think Napier would kill it at LSU and would be here for a very long time.

For some reason I feel like Aranda could be lured eventually to be an NFL HC. He just strikes me as the NFL HC type of personality.

Napier doesn't necessarily fit the Woodward "swing for the fences" hire, but I think he would be great.

Just my two cents

Napier, more of a HC track record than Aranda. I like Aranda too though and would be good with either

I would trust the guy who actually has spoken to both of these guys and made a decision.

Aranda. He’s a better coach.

Agree with all of this, but by all accounts Napier is a Saban clone. We know there will only ever be one Saban, but apparently Napier approaches the game the same way and prepares the same way. I would take a Great Value Nick Saban tbh.

Can’t argue with any of that, but we need someone who has participated in more than 20 games as head coach. His sample size is way too small to know if he’s good, bad or average.

Between the two I would go with Napier, but neither would be in my top 5.

I love Aranda for what he did for this program, and Napier is far from my top choice, but I’d take Napier over Dave because I truly believe that finally having an offensive coach at the top in BR should be the top priority.

So why not Jay Johnson then?

Aranda easily has the stronger resume. He was a long time defensive coordinator at a major SEC program, and won a national championship. He's a current head coach at a power 5 program.

These two and Riley are the best possible hires IMO & any one of them probably wins a natty or comes close to it.

If Riley is an option that’s choice #1 for the immediate recruiting boom alone. Napier is my bet over Aranda just because modern college football is offense first. No one would complain with Aranda coming in, but OC there will matter a lot if you want to keep & draw more guys like Howard.

Napier. I would just prefer an offensive coach. Either would win championships at LSU though.

This is also Napier on the O side.

So for all the same reasons, maybe moreso because of NFL experience, you're high on Mel Tucker?

Aranda
Track record at LSU, stability, maturity (something the last two coaches have lacked among other things) Defensive minded, and quite frankly I know more about him then Napier at the moment.

One thing that concerns me about the White Whale/ Riley is he has been rumored to Dallas for years. I want a guy that will come and establish roots here. And competes year in and year out for the playoffs. I would be happy with either hire though….

But the thought of Aranda and Herman or Freeze as OC is very appealing

I'm not high on Mel Tucker. My argument was that the melt over the possibility of his hiring was unwarranted. With the exception of the NFL experience, his and Aranda's resumes are very similar.

You're saying Woodward already decided on Napier?
