2.) I realize his history in SEC has been bad, but it's also been almost a decade and he's admitted to not knowing everything and therefore not going to try like he did before.
I just don't get the logic.
Yes, it's been a decade and in that decade he hasn't been a HC anywhere. No one has hired him as HC. So why would one of the top 5 programs in the country suddenly hire him? Why???
Regarding his 6-2 record as interim at USC. He injected some Dale Brown style rah rah and beat a few teams. Then ended the season with a 35-14 loss to UCLA.
Haven't we had enough of that????
HIs record is garbage--way worse than Johnny Jones.
Does he deserve another shot at being a head coach? Absolutely. At Tulane, North Texas State, La. Tech etc. That's where people go when they fail in the SEC.
NOT LSU!!!!
Otherwise, he's a great recruiting coordinator/ DL coach--that's what he's been all of his life. That's what he's qualified for.

He hasn't even coached a game at LSU yet. Let's see how he does he does on the field here before we start pumping him up for full time head coach.
I agree but the inverse is also true. Let's not count him out because of his time at Ole Miss. He did better at USC and now he has a chance show what he can do at LSU. If he is successful this season I have no problem with retaining him. If he isn't then we look elsewhere. The nice thing is that we don't have to make the decision now.

How many more losses do we need until people stop with this Coach O shite? The losses would almost be worth it at this point.

what exactly in his past performance in the SEC leads you to believe he should be the LSU HC?

ETA: To clarify
1.) Like as in like him as a HC
TS - valid point regarding a decade ago and admitting he did things wrong, then again what could he say. I give what he did at USC more credibility than what some other people on this site do but it was just a small snippet of HC and he shite the bed so badly at Ole Piss he probably needs a stop somewhere as HC to gain more credibility. I personally believe it will be difficult for him to be offered the LSU job because of his past with Ole Piss, but he still has a chance. He needs to do very, very well these next 8 games and prove himself. But if he does he will have a leg up on everyone because even though some posters on this board might not like him to be our next HC if he does go 7-1 he will be the sentimental favorite from the Louisiana fans and that might be hard for Admin to ignore.

K the talent at USC wasn't great then they had some skill position guys but oline was terrible and zero depth. Always thought kiffin got a terrible shot here cause of all the sanctions that king Carroll had left behind. They were extremely undermaned at that time. Coach O really wasn't an option for that job and I also don't think he's really an option now. But the situation here is much much better than what was at USC at the time

I don't think we should be ripping CEO. I love the guy. He is an INTERIM Head Coach, and a damn fine D-line coach and recruiter that I hope stays on staff in that capacity for a long time.

I think everybody or at least the huge majority of fans love the ceo but also think people are tired of the ceo for HC talk that seems so ridiculous

Then LSU and the fans get what it deserves. A "sentimental," "inspiring" coach. Not a head coach with a focus on winning. It would be an announcement that LSU isn't a top tier program.

Ihope he stays around ,but not as HC,we have a chance to progress while we can afford it
Posted on 9/30/16 at 11:29 am to Mikethegreat
So why bash him if you want him back as a dline coach?
Posted on 9/30/16 at 11:35 am to Geauxing for 3
Nobody I have seen has bashed him as a position coach or recruiting coordinator.

No one, and i mean NO ONE, is bashing him. Everyone is saying they love him on this team as dline coach and recruiting coord. but he shouldnt be promoted to the HC of a top 7-8 program.
Thats not bashing.

There's a name for the condition - It's called catastrophe syndrome.
The energy of the fan base directly translated into a lethargic football team for the past 2 years, and it got us what we wanted.

Wow your lack of football acumen is astounding. Ok BeBe shite the bed at Ole Piss everyone understands that, but that was 10years ago and he has obviously learned something from that experience because of what he did at USC as interim HC. So let's say he does go 7-1 or 8-0, as highly doubtful as it is, then he definitely deserves a shot. Understand all the pundits are saying we are going to lose to "Bama, UF, Arky and Tamu" right now with a win against Ole Piss "which i believe will be more difficult than people think. So right now as it stands most pundits think this is a 6-6 season for LSU "meaning BeBe will go 4-4 with two cupcakes so in reality he is going 2-4." So if he goes 7-1 in reality he has gone 5-1 against "Bama, UF, Arky, Tamu & Ole Piss" with 3 of those games away with the same shitty offensive scheme we have in place now with some new wrinkles.
No if he does that than he has earned the right to be coach and it is exactly opposite of what you are saying, it is a top tier program giving a local boy a shot at greatness for both LSU and the local boy. The one thing no one can argue is the unbelievably successful recruiting job he did at Ole Piss, you don't need to take my word for it just ask Houston Nutt. As soon as BeBe's recruits were out of the system it took 1 year to fire Nutt with his recruits.
So looking at it from a strictly business if Orgeron does go 7-1 or 8-0 it would be a smart thing to do business wise. The stadium will be packed like never before, every LSU fan will want the local boy to succeed and one thing Admin can bank on if Orgeron is the HC for a couple year "experiment" if he does shite the bed for the next hire the cupboard will be stocked that is a guarantee!!!
So

It's literally his only extensive experience as a head coach. He was never HC before, has never been HC since. I don't think you can just write it off just because it was 10 years ago.
You want to base his position here going forward off of a two temporary stints as an interim. That's dangerous. And you're willing to justify it by saying, "Oh well, if he sucks we'll just fire him and hire the right guy next time."
How about LSU just hire the right guy this time. The promoting of the interim to the full time head coach doesn't exactly have a great track record of success.

Love O as DL/RC, but Herman is a once in a generation HC..Apple vs Orange.

3) They're Miles apologists. They are scared to death of what everyone will see when O wins with his players.
Posted on 9/30/16 at 12:38 pm to TaderSalad
I don't think any one is completely "anti-coach O".
There's just a lot of us who would like to see what he can do on the field a few times before handing him the job.
If we fired Miles because we wanted clearer press conferences and shorter practices, then maybe he's the answer, but I thought we wanted more than that from our HC.

Hey Wayne don't know if the news from a few years back has gotten to Huntsville yet but BeBe was Head Coach at one of the most storied programs in college football. I am sure you have heard of University of Southern California better known by the acronym of USC "not to be mistaken as South Carolina." Here I have included a clipping from 3 years ago to prove it.
LINK
So even though you can't overlook his 3 years at Ole Piss, you have to give him credit for what he did at USC albeit a very small sampling, but none the less a sampling of him changing his methods of being a Head Coach and learning from his mistakes in the past as to not repeat them.
Bebe ain't getting the job if he doesn't go 7-1 or better and I would assume that was leaked from Admin. But if he does go 7-1 or 8-0 meaning be either beat all of the remaining SEC opponents in "Bama, UF, Ole Piss, Arky and Tamu" or 4 of the 5. You couple that with what he did at USC and that is a pretty good indicator that he has changed and did learn from his mistakes.
Plus it would be a huge business decision for LSU. If Orgeron does go 7-1, 8-0 the stadium will be packed beyond capacity if that is even possible and the dollars will roll in. He will be cheaper than 4mil a year and one thing we know for damn sure, if it didn't work out the cupboard would be stocked with talent for the next coach. Look at what he left for Nutt at Ole Piss! As soon as Orgeron's recruits were out of the system Nutt was fired the following year!!!
