Different people have different talents. We couldn't even hire him as the DC but you want to make him HC?

USC's current head coach had a 6-2 record as interim there when they hired him on full time.

2013: Fresno st - W 45-20
2015:
Notre Dame - L 41-31
Utah - W 42-24
Cal - W 27-21
Arizona - W 38-30
Colorado - W 27-24
Oregon - L 48-28
Ucla - W 40-21

His record as head coach there:
2015:
Stanford - L 41-22
Wisconsin - L 23-21
2016:
Bama - L 52-6
Utah St - W 45-7
Stanford - L 27-10
Utah - L 31-27

Not great

I don't understand people trying to talk themselves into hiring him before they play a game. There is allot of praise for what he is doing based on nothing but anti-Miles animus or just being excited by change. We don't know if it will have a real impact on the field yet. That said, no one doesn't think he has at least the right to try and earn the job but the bar he has to clear is really high. He has to win 4 or 5 of the following game Missouri, at Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, at Arkansas, and at A&M, which is really challenging but if he does I think he probably earns the job.

You're threads show you have the IQ of "TaderSalad"

No one doesn't want coach O. They WANT LSU to get the best possible coach in the land. Is he the BEST POSSIBLE COACH??

Everyone knows the answer, so why must morons like yourself start threads already trying to split the fanbase. You are a foul troll.

This is what it boils down to. People are so excited for something other than Les Miles, they are willing to sign on the dotted line with the first change they see.

Just ignore the rest of the man's coaching career.

I just don't get this.

Even going 8-0, that tells me nothing about his ability to build a sustain a top tier program. In fact, all of his history says he CAN'T do that. And that this could be an anomaly. He failed at Ole Miss. USC didn't trust him. He wasn't offered even a mid-tier position during his year off. No one else has said "Coach O can build, sustain, and run a football program" since Ole Miss.

No one.

Yep. If he wants to go run Tulane or ULM or something along those lines, then kills it...i'll have him back in 3-5 years. He just hasnt proven anything that would say he needs to be the LSU HC.

Thanks for answering the question (sarcasm). Goes to show you maybe you should listen to your own advice (albeit riddled with grammatical errors) and post less. Or maybe you just struggle with reading comprehension. Your post wreaks of illiteracy.

If trying to find out why people don't like the LSU current HC is divisive then I guess I am the one out of the loop.

I'm not anti-Coach O

however, we just fired Miles and are in the market for a big name.

Coach O is perfect for what is needed right now. However, it's going to take someone else to take it back to the top.

Don't let the theatrics and everything else blind you right now.

There is some really weird psychological stuff going on with the LSU fan base. This situation has really brought that to light for me. We finally get rid of what has become a mediocre HC who has the program trending in the wrong direction, and a strong portion of the fan base wants LSU to hire a position coach instead of bringing in an elite HC. Its like a weird mixture of nepotism, low self esteem and self destruction.

it takes an outsider to come in a right the ship, we've seen it all the time. Do I consider Jimbo an outsider? not really, but he's never done it his way at LSU.

I would love for O to stay on with the new regime, however.

No doubt. It is weird. As many have stated, CEO hasn't even coached his first game yet. Which is why I sought some answers. Can't be worse than what we've had so far this season, lets rally behind the team and support the guy till we can make the hire. All I am trying to say.

Everyone wants to discount his position coaching to HC promotion against him, but I must've missed that there is an inside route of player to HC.

I figured 5% of the fanbase would want to promote O, just for sheer excitement and stupidity. But i'll be damned if it's not closer to 50%.

It's fascinating to say the least.

Re-read this thread or any thread with CEO's name in it. There are plenty disagreeing with the fact that we should rally behind right now. Hence why I posted the topic.

I've not heard one person say they are not in support of O as the interim coach. Everyone wants him to win a lot of football games.

You're getting things confused.
