Keeping Aranda always seemed to be priority #1 in every discussion about this search. If that's true, it would make sense to gauge his feelings in potential hires.

If Orgeron sticks the OC hire, retains Aranda, holds this recruiting class and is able to rapidly implement a talent and opponent evaluation staff to rival Bama's, then he will have my unabashed support. He has his work cut out for him. Geaux Tigers!

The funny thing is, if LSU decided to go into a bidding war to get Herman, they may not have had to do that to retain Aranda assuming they got Herman.

I just want to believe that there's no way lsu would retain O without knowing for sure they were keeping Aranda

Just my opinion though

And, if he wants to coach in the NFL, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a look this year. So, he'll leave for the NFL possibly in February? Great.

What top DC will come here and coach for O?

conventionally, yes. In this situation, no (not in my opinion).

And in business such things are happening more and more often. Used to a supervisor reviewed his direct reports only. It is becoming somewhat common for reports to review their supervisor. It is the better source for information. Some people see it as the 'inmates running the asylum', but that assumes the employees are the inmates. If you discard that assumption, and consider the supervisor the inmate then relying on his review/judgement exclusively for a whole list of people (i.e. your the supervisors boss), then you are potentially limiting you information on all of them.

by the way, as DrunkenTiger was pointing out all the Aranda leaving stuff is based off the assumption that he does not work well with or doesn't want to work for CEO. That might not be a good assumption. Good or bad assumption, there's lots of bias going into all these threads right now to prop up (or shoot down) assumptions.

Well, the NFL is knocking on the door, so this doesn't make me feel better.

You can only assume LSU will potentially be paying $2+ million on coordinators to offset the cheaper Orgeron. So they should be able to get whoever they want.

Job one to win the smart fans- fire Peveto. At the very least, move him to an off the field position in admin. This has to happen.

I didn't post this to necessarily make anyone feel any better, just noticed there's a lot flying around. The NFL coaching carousel gets going much later than college and presumably he'll have just signed a large contract when that cranks up. I'm sure if an NFL team really wants him they could buy that contract out, but by the same logic I would assume most NFL teams willing to do that will want to see him reproduce the same success next year at LSU. College coaches are always a gamble at the next level, in fact I think that helps LSU here. LSU provides him with the talent and schedule to show he's a slam dunk.
