All the info so far on Dave Aranda

*Disclaimer: I am not an insider. I hear things here and there, but this is mostly published info from 247 and other sources, ultimately it's Dave Aranda's decision and no one can speak in absolutes but him.*
First off, I know lots of people are melting right now. This isn't a thread about Orgeron, this is for discussion about DA.
I won't defend the admin in this coaching search (or lack thereof), but one thing they did do is sit down with Aranda and make it clear they would do whatever it took to keep him here and happy. Any other offer he receives will be beaten, period.
They also spoke in depth about his future goals. Contrary to what's floating around here and on other message boards, Aranda sees the NFL as his next step, not a college HC job. That's crucial, because UT is looking at a pretty big rebuild on defense. The easiest path to the NFL for him is to continue to display his scheme with top talent, not show he can recruit and rebuild. Aranda favored keeping Orgeron, he feels the talent is going to keep coming and that wasn't a certainty if there were major staff overhauls.
Lastly, Aranda has been quoted as saying he "loves it here." My personal opinion is that the Herman/Aranda relationship is a bit over hyped, though I'm not gonna sit here and promise you Aranda will stay. That's up to him, I just think if you read between the lines he will be here until the NFL comes calling.

he does strike me as an nfl guy. kinda todd bowles-esque in terms of his quiet demeanor yet attention to detail as a DC.

Does NFL pay 2 mill plus for a coordinator?

I agree with everything said here. I have faith LSU will hold on tight to Aranda
Posted on 11/26/16 at 2:15 pm to TheDrunkenTigah
Didn't they announce that Aranda has committed to staying?

Is it me or is it kinda fricked up that you consult the DC about the HC position.

I just hope you are right DrunkenTigah, don't know if I can handle much more right now. LOL.

This will be great, if true.
But, I'm not believing anything until I see him agree to stay and a new contract signed.

If I'm not mistaken, he interviewed for the DC position at Green Bay, in the recent past. I would imagine that he would get more serious consideration, this time.

He will. He's gone he will not coach again at lsu. Too many NFL teams need d.

But if another school wants to talk to him do we wipe our hands clean and just let him go?

It's a nightmare, castorinho. We're relying on subordinates keeping the ship afloat.

So we will go into a bidding war for a coordinator, but not HC
Great stuff

I simply don't believe that ANY offer will be matched

Not when you are hiring Ed Orgeron as your head coach.
