I think Saban is staying at Bama, but people need to stop acting like a recently signed contract extension means anything in today's college football arms race. Richrod bolted from WVU to Michigan before the ink from the signature on his most recent extension (with hefty raise) was even dry, if I recall.

Last year, Chip Kelly "agreed" to stay with Oregon a couple of weeks before the Eagles sent him another offer and he changed his tune. This shite just happened last year so I don't know why Bama folks think this is inconceivable.
Odds are the Saban is the coach of Bama next year but I wouldn't rest easy until Texas actually has a coach. There is precedent for a flip flop here.

What would a buyout do? According to this board, Texas boosters are going to pay Saban's $25MM debt off. What would another $10-15MM buyout be to those billionaires, right?

He has a show cause against him. The NCAA was after him and not Oregon. What better way to serve a show cause than with a big fat NFL contract and not be like Tressel.

It is not inconceivable to think Saban could go elsewhere, but the issue for many UA fans is why is it so inconceivable for rival to accept the fact that Saban may want to retire soon. The simple answer is they know the road to beating UA is easier without him.

I don't think there's been anyone that has denied that an SEC-less Saban is desirable for everyone. But if it doesn't happen, whatever, business as usual.
But the possibility that he may choose Texas (however small that possibility is) is entertaining enough to speculate about. And the fact that you Bama types keep reacting to the speculation so adamantly is an added bonus.
Bottom line is, we all know that if there's one coach in the nation that would be at the center of a controversial hire, it's Saban. We'll keep throwing stuff out there until the job is taken. Otherwise, it'd be a long 3 weeks until the High school all star games.

Some Gumps don't realize that all Saban has to do if UT makes him a significantly better offer is be honest that he never considered the UT job because he was never actually offered it before.
Given the offer and opportunity, he felt the offer was the best thing for him and his family, and will be taking the job.
In the end, if UT actually offered 10 years at $10 million per year, he'd be stupid not take it.
That said, I doubt he gets offered that and leaves Bama.
