1. It hasn't been announced yet and he plays this weekend
2. It was announced he planned to sign an extension in the coming weeks. Why not right away?

Contracts like this aren’t generic forms that you print out and sign.
A lawyer drafts it, a different team of lawyers vet it from the school perspective, and then it is given to the opposing sides lawyers to vet.
Even something as straightforward as an extension.
Hell, they might be going back and forth on precise terms and commitments
