Gotta make it to chapter 10

I've read the whole series. 3 more coming. Its one of, if not my favorite sci-fi series

I enjoyed the first book from reaching Paradise and onward. I need to download the second one.

I'm on the third book of Joe Abercrombie's Shattered Sea Trilogy.

I'm really enjoying the series. While not as broad in scope as the First Law books, its definitely an Abercrombie universe - just a little toned down.

Just finished Blood Song by Anthony Ryan, which is the first in a trilogy called the Raven's Shadow series. I was pleasantly surprised for just randomly picking a book on amazon to download for the holiday weekend.

Let us know how you like the entire trilogy once you finish book 3.

I didn't actually mind the trilogy as a whole. The third book was pretty uneven, but it wasn't that bad. That being said, my ability to slog through a book and just conquer it (especially when it's not like... Henry James or something awful like that) is pretty high.

Anthony Ryan's new Trilogy, Covenant of Steel, is great. I highly recommend. Alwyn Scribe is a great character.

No official word, but I’m hoping next year. When he announced LB, he said that Red God would be soon after. Makes me think he made significant progress before deciding to split them into two books. Should be as long as the wait after Dark Age.

Best Served Cold is a pretty self-contained story and they easily tell it in a single movie. If they had chosen the original trilogy, you would need multiple TV show seasons or a movie trilogy to tell the story. I don't think they would bankroll that much risk (even if the first law trilogy is slightly better than best served cold itself).

I read The Faithful and the Fallen series. Very good. I just start Book One, A Time of Dread, of the Of Blood and Bone trilogy. I'm a little more than 100 pgs in and enjoying it.

Faithful and Fallen is great. What Gwynn does best is character development and battle scenes.

The world building isn’t anything special if that’s what you’re looking for, kind of generic medieval European landscapes.

But his battle scenes are brutally violent, but realistic and not really over the top.

And he makes you really care for or absolutely loathe the characters. To the point that some some deaths are heartbreaking and others just so satisfying

I’m about halfway through with “Last Argument of Kings” the 3rd book in the first law trilogy. Is there a second trilogy after this or is it something completely different? Didn’t want to Google for fear of spoilers.

There are 3 books involving characters from that trilogy (but that are standalones focusing on specific characters. They're usually called the "World of the First Law" books... but they aren't a trilogy per se) after that series. Then there is another trilogy called the Age of Madness that takes place after those 3 books but still is set in same world and involves basically the "next generation" of characters.

When I read them, I screwed it all up and started with Age of Madness, then read one of the World of the First Law books, then went back and read the first trilogy, then finished the other two World of the First Law books.

Like Hogfly said, there is a second trilogy - The Age of Madness - which has the world of First Law moving into a sort of industrial revolution.

But, there are three stand alone books also - Best Served Cold, The Heroes, and Red Country. I highly suggest that you read these stand alone books before moving on to the second trilogy. There are characters in the second trilogy who are introduced in the stand alone books.

Cool thanks guys. Gonna finish stormlight reread then will take y’all’s advice. Like his style and after going from super dense Malazan last year this is a much easier read.

I had a lot of fun reading the stand alone books. The Heroes has the best battle scenes I have ever read.

It took me a while to get into that book as well. I ended up really enjoying it and the entire series, but the worldbuilding felt pretty stereotypical and shallow at first. It just didn't pull me in. It does get better, though if you stick with it.
