It starts slow but a lot of character building. Some little things that seem insignificant get callbacks toward the end of the story.

But by the end of book 2 I literally could not put it down.

That's a long way away. The investment better payoff

Just giving my thoughts. If you don’t like it, don’t continue.

I was joking, It just read as though you had to wait until end of book 2 for it to be good.

I think part of my problem is I don't love the narrator of the audiobook. I keep trying to push through though.

Wish there was something like coppermind so I can recap what happened in chapters to make sure I was following

Faithful and Fallen is an incredible trilogy. The sequel trilogy was not good imo

Decided to shelf Malice for now and switched to Jade City by Fonda Lee.

Really, really enjoying it so far.

I don’t have the slightest clue what’s going on. Writing is also poor by his standards (and he’s not a prose master).

It started in non stop action that I found oddly boring, mostly because it was incredibly confusing.

I’ll need to restart it.

I had same feeling. Secret project 4 was only one whose released chapters I had read before it came out so I knew who the focus character was and was pumped. The writing seemed off and he’s focused way too much on the science to make it seem real if that makes sense. His writing in Yumi and Tress were so much better as well. Was a fine read but I expected this to be the best of the 4 and I have it at 3.

Anybody read A Court of Thorns and Roses?

Out of town and my sister had it laying around and said she loved it so I picked it up. 100 pages in and it’s an easy read but I feel like this is about to be more of a romance novel than a fantasy. Maybe not, I don’t know.

Isn't that just a smut book for people who liked Twilight in highschool?

Very well could be but I'm liking it

Though my secretary has read it and raved about it in the office Friday so I'm just going to assume it's popular because of TikTok.

Night's Dawn trilogy was good when i 1st read it by Peter F. Hamilton,
(The Reality Dysfunction, The Neutronium Alchemist, and The Naked God).
-------------------------------

I was a big Asimov fan way back, especially his Robot series but they really are a bit outdated.

His Foundation series got a bit watered down starting with Forward Foundation onward, and his family allowing 3 more foundation books retelling the Foundation after his death just didn't do anything to help.

I never read anything past the original Foundation trilogy as far as Foundation goes. Never had any desire to give the others a shot because even those are further down on my list of his books anyway.

The Caves of Steel and The Naked Sun are my two favorite Asimov books. The Baley and R Daneel doesn't seem too outdated imo.

Been on an Anthony Ryan kick lately.

I really enjoyed the Covenant of Steel books. I also liked the Raven's Shadow books despite everyone seeming to hate the last book. I also really liked the Raven's Blade books.

I'm reading the Draconis Memoria books now, and I'm kind of torn on them. Seems like they might have been earlier in his career...

I'm one who doesn't hate the last book. Love that whole series. His subsequent stories with AL Sorna are still readable, bit not as good, IMO.

I very much enjoyed Draconis Memoria to. Liked the world and magic system.

I thoroughly enjoyed all those books. Outdated is more in reference to the futuristic revolving sidewalks on Earth.(Caves of Steel) "Giskard" was maybe my favorite "Robot" character. The 3rd book "Robots of Dawn" was one of my favorites and also enjoyed "Robots and Empire"
--------------------------------------
Science fiction writer and futurist Isaac Asimov first used the word "robotics" in 1941 to describe the technology of robots. Asimov is credited with introducing the word Robotics into our vocabulary.

Later in Asimovs autobiography he states "The Mule" was one of his favorite characters.
