Indiana freshman Tyler Cerny has started nearly every game of the season at second base but missed last night's game because he was serving a suspension after getting ejected on Saturday. Why did he get ejected? He brought out a crimson home run chain after his teammate hit a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning against Kentucky...

Good. 'bout time this foolishness takes a hike. Self-adulation has eclipsed the game itself. Call me old-fashioned.

Should have given him a stick crown.

Yet softball teams have all of those props and nothing said.

Well, you can thank the UT Douches for this move! Never forget who's in charge of the game, & apparently he didn't get any the nite before...

Or you could wait until he gets into the dugout. Or just not do it all.

Rules are rules. Follow them and you don't have to worry about problems like this.

If the kid didn't know the rules, that's on his coaches.

Umps are there to enforce the rules -- they aren't at fault. If the coaches don't like it, then get the people in charge to change the rules.

are there any rules regarding a home plate umpire using the "F" word when a batter expresses his displeasure with a call? FJB and the NCAA

The idea of a homerun chain is stupid, similar to the turnover chain or belt in college football. Ejecting a player for that is equally stupid.

Yeah - rules be damned.

Damn dem VAWLS for ruining the fun for all. It is kind of dumb, but the rulez. Though these celebrations have gotten out of control. At some point we need to move closer to "been there before" instead of going crazy dramatic for every big play.

All you bad sportsmanship guys - Had this been an LSU player you guys would have been losing your shite

I'd be losing my shite on the key player for doing something so stupid to get suspended

Good. One day maybe we’ll see sportsmanship again. It amazes that people are so insecure they have to show up somebody else to feel better. They don’t need a home run chain they need therapy.

How do you know for a fat it was to "show up" an opposing player? Maybe he was just happy for his team and teammate? The kid was 15 steps from the dugout, and wasn't even looking or near the opposing team. It was a dumb call, and a way to strict punishment. They're still kids for Christ's sake.

I believe going lax on celebrations is a slippery slope but this is an absurd ejection. I’m not even sure who is tasked with keeping an eye on this or who would notice it. Rules are rules I guess.
