19-year old Milwaukee Brewers prospect Jackson Chourio can't even drink, but he's picking up the bar tab for his teammates for a while. Chourio is about to get paid with an 8-year extension worth almost $80 million....despite never playing an MLB Game...

Now I know why is 50 bucks for parking, 18 bucks for a beer and 15 for a hot dog at games.

Baseball is incentivized to pay their stars earlier because the amount young superstars are commanding in their first big deal is insane. The Brewers can't afford a $300M-$400M deal, so this is what they settle for. The player is smart because if he ends up as an all-star, he'll have plenty of years for another mega deal after this one is done.

Didn’t Albies screw himself by signing a long term deal that ended up underpaying him significantly?

No. Him and Acuna are both happy with their deals. Why are you so concerned?

My bad, I didn’t see he is already in AAA.

So maybe late next season.

It’s a calculated gamble on their part. If he’s just half decent he’ll be well worth $10MM AAV. If he’s a great player or even just pretty good it will be a steal. $10MM is not that much in the MLB these days.

The kid is 3 years away from playing in the majors.

At a standard 5% commission, he earned $4M at the signing of the contract. And that's before the higher commission rates on any endorsement deal.

Kid is from Venezuela. They have a real bad habit of kidnapping the families of millionaire baseball players.

I'd play a season or 2 and retire for a garunteed $80,000,000.

it's guaranteed, but not if he quits. Guaranteed means the Brewers can't release him and bail on the contract. But if a player quits, I'm certain the contact is void. That's why coaches almost never step down - they wait to get fired so they get the buyout.

You don't just get paid if you quit.
