I'll do the math here. Assumptions: TTU softball tickets are $12/ticket.

Since TTU softball earnings nothing off Television, the only source of income is ticket sales. She's a pitcher so she starts just 1 time every 3 games. There's 52 total games a season so 26 to 27 home games. 27/3 means she'd start 9 home games. TTU softball stadium hold 1,050 capacity.

She might increase attendance by 100 people, so 100 additional tickets * $12/ticket * 9 home games pitched means she's worth $10,800. This is $1,189,200 less than she's getting paid. Or an ROI of negative 11,111%

For her ROI to be positive, she'd have to increase ticket sales by this equation: $1,200,000 = $12/ticket * 9 home games pitched * x amount of more tickets sold per game....
x = 11,111. For it to be worth paying her $1.2 mil, she'd need to increase attendance 11,111 more per game when she pitches. TTU softball stadium capacity is 1,050. She'd need to increase attendance more than 10x than what the stadium could possibly hold for it to be worth it.

Final verdict, bullsh*t. She's not getting paid this.

Amount she'd realstically increase

"She's a pitcher so she starts just 1 time every 3 games."

That's not how softball works, lot of the pitchers throw over 175 pitches per weekend series, totally different than baseball.

That’s about $400k in taxes that she just set herself up for. If I’m the IRS, I’m coming after that.

No wonder they're not good in any other sports. They dumped in all into a dead end sport nobody cares about.

There's no way in hell this is true. There's no way in hell even 10% of that amount to a softball player is true. People aren't that dumb. Try asking for $1.2 mil from your boss and see what he says. Not one person on TD would be successful.

I followed your suggestion and my wife said I could have $40.

Did she have a full free ride at Stanford? Many people would see real value in that.

From the subject, I guessed they bought a Great Value Livvy Dunne.

Is softball moving the needle that much? I mean geez, that's a lot of dough for a sport that ends in college.

She's a very good pitcher. I'm curious if she left for the money or if there were other reason compelling the transfer. Palo Alto is a very expensive place to live.

Who on earth would pay that for a softball player? That's supposedly stud quarterback money. My cousin's brother in law is president of the BOR at Tech and the head of the matador club and it's hard to believe they would sign off on this

I'd assume there can be more than one collective and they can waste money on whoever they want.

I mean I guess it just depends how much you care about softball. But a stud softball pitcher can almost make your whole team.
