In a way this needed to happen for the very fact other schools were way ahead of LSU in the student recreation area, it helps attract students to LSU

For the millionth time, this was funded before the budget problems, payed for by additional fee in student fee bills

for the millionth time, perception matters. Pissing & moaning about having your budget cut when you have an $80M pool isn't very bright. Doesn't make the tax payers very sympathetic either. LSU is the King (get it) of stupid at times.

Makes total sense to give 18-22 year olds fantasy-resort living conditions, paid for with govt loans. Great idea, society. What could possibly go wrong.

Student fees means increased grants and loans, which means more student debt and more burden on tax players.

Remember when F King threatened to cancel LSU's football season because LSU was broke? I member.

Must not remember very well. They money raised for the pool wasn't allowed to be put towards their budget issues because of a clause in the foundation stating it could only go to that project. I don't imagine you know how those things work either.

So wait, we couldn't fire/hire a coach "because perception", but we can build an $85 million kiddie pool and that's screams "fiscal responsibility"? Louisiana gonna Louisiana. But I'll backstroke in it like a mofo!

All alumni should have access. Seems like a great way to cool off while tailgating, at least until people start peeing and puking in it.

Anytime you want. You can activate free membership for as long as you paid fees towards this.

Funny how people think this was just decided upon and constructed overnight... Also funny that people think this is an arbitrary decision by F. King. That's not how higher Ed budgets work.

Yes, was paid for with student fees. Student govt agreed to "pay" more in fees for an upgrade to the rec. Makes sense. Not like most of these kids are footing the bill anyway. Can't really complain about being priced out of higher ed though when you're agreeing to add $XXX to your fee bill every semester.

Doesn't matter what the student government does, if admin want to do something, they will add a fee to get it done. When they were renovating the student union, costs started to go up due to storms, the students voted against the fee increase, the board passed it anyway. Student government is just something to put on your resume.

student assessed fees and school assessed fees are two different fees. This is a student assessed fee.
