LSU Basketball Lands Commitment From Top-Ranked Center Xavier Young

LSU basketball coach Will Wade continues to make major moves on the recruiting trail, landing a commitment from highly touted center Xavier Young on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 prospect from Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy in Dallas, Texas, announced his commitment to LSU over Maryland, Michigan, TCU, and Tennessee.

Young is currently ranked as the No. 11 overall prospect in the 2028 recruiting class, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, but will reclassify to the 2027 class.

Young also helped Team USA win a gold medal at the FIBA U17 World Cup this summer, averaging 7.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

The commitment gives Wade his fourth pledge in LSU's 2027 recruiting class, joining five-star point guard Reese Alston, four-star guard King Gibson, and four-star center Ahmad Hudson.

With Young now on board, LSU holds the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for 2027, according to Rivals.
