With Penn State firing James Franklin on Sunday, many have begun compiling lists of candidates to land the job in Happy Valley.

One of those potential candidates, according to Bryan Fischer of Sports Illustrated, could be LSU coach Brian Kelly...
quote:

Brian Kelly, LSU head coach

LSU coach Brian Kelly could be a better cultural fit with the Nittany Lions than he is at LSU.

There’s a case to be made that Kelly and Franklin were the two most successful head coaches not to have won a national title and that going from one to the other will only produce the same results in State College, Pa. But Kelly is a serial winner and seems like a much better cultural fit at Penn State than LSU. A change of scenery on the coach’s end and a big name on the school’s end could be a win all around.
Here's all the canidates SI listed for the Penn State job:

Matt Rhule, Nebraska head coach
Curt Cignetti, Indiana head coach
Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss head coach
Brian Kelly, LSU head coach
Matt Campbell, Iowa State head coach
Manny Diaz, Duke head coach
Dan Mullen, UNLV head coach
Mike Tomlin, Steelers head coach

If Kelly leaves, would LSU promote Baker to HC even though he has no HC experience? All a HC needs to be is a good manager like a CEO. Hire an awesome OC and go from there. The players seem to play hard for Blake.

I agree he'd be a great fit at Penn State. He's done his work here by getting LSU back to prominence.

lol! Tomlin is always on the wish list and the idea of coaching at the college level seems putrid for him! lol! Penn State will be appreciating James Franklin real soon, because they will struggle badly for awhile.

We can only hope…let him GO! Make it a Win-Win and let Woody hire the new guy! 5yr max heavy incentives vs a 10yr guaranteed no accountability contract!

The most intriguing part of this would be who would take the LSU job? If Lane Kiffin ended up in Baton Rouge, LSU would win all the time.

In BK’s 4th year he still hasn’t fielded a complete team that is strong in all phases. If someone else wants him, good luck to them. I won’t be sad if he leaves.
