Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports
Bill Bender with Sporting News released his "pre-preseason" Top 25 rankings for 2019 this week and has LSU at No. 7. Here's what he had to say about the Tigers:
quote:

7. LSU
The Tigers had an impressive season under Ed Orgeron, and Joe Burrow, who had a good game against UCF in the Fiesta Bowl, has another year to work in offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger’s system. The defense can offset some NFL Draft depatures around SN All-American safety Grant Delpit. The road trip to Texas and the usual date with Alabama on Nov. 9 will determine the Playoff possibilities, but the rest of the schedule is friendly enough to set up those opportunities.

Prepare for "Texas is overrated" when we beat yet another top 10 in season opener.

I'll go ahead and tell you now: Texas is overrated.

LSU is at least a top five or better team, and if either Rosenthal or Wire or both steps up to win a starting job at offensive tackle, the offensive line will be far better next season than it was last season. Not to mention that Joe Burrow, the receiver corps, and the running backs will all be elite with a significantly improved offensive line. Meanwhile, with K'lavon Chaisson back at Buck, the defense will be quite a bit better than last season's defense as well. Indeed, we have a very legit chance of making the college football playoffs in 2019.

Tiger, have you seen our 2019 schedule? You don't think we have a legitimate title?

The teams should be evaluated after signing day. LSU can be higher than 7th with some top recruits.

Very very few freshmen are difference makers, and you wouldn’t know that until the season starts, anyway. Nobody on Earth knows how these 18 year old kids will perform, certainly not the guys who do these polls.

Bayou, Etienne and that no-chest CB who flipped to bammer were starting freshman in the NC. Yea it’s few, but it’s real.

Bama is not a top 3 team. I would have them at 5

I assume you meant to say "Georgia", and not Bama.

No, I’m a tiger fan. I can spell and I don’t sleep with my sister. As a bama fan can you say the same?

Wow. Some of you guys seriously don't even have the maturity or reading comprehension level of my 9 year old. I ask you for clarity regarding Alabama's preseason ranking and you immediately deduce it to a personal shot, talking about incest, education level and fan affiliation. I am no "bama" fan for assuming they are a top 3 team in preseason rankings. In the meantime, grow the hell up, don't be so sensitive, and certainly don't assume that someone is a "bama" fan for thinking they should be highly ranked. This platform IS called "tigerdroppings"just in case you forgot.

Every year, same story, they take the final 2018 poll, give Bama the obligatory top spot, move a couple top ten pieces and there you have your 2019 college football poll! The brilliance is off the charts!

They’ve basically won a NC every other year for 10 years. It’s not outlandish.

They basically lost last year by 4 TDs. It's outlandish.

I hate UG but they have a solid team coming back. Plus they play in the east which is the SEC runner up year in and year out. 3-5 is about right.

Bama had 6 new coaches in 2018 and they still won 14 games but lost the one that really counted. "If you ain't 1st then you're last"...Ricky Bobby
