Report: LSU's Frank Wilson Expected To Join Ole Miss Staff

LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson is expected to join Pete Golding's staff at Ole Miss, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

It is reported that Wilson will join Ole Miss after LSU's Texas Bowl on Jan. 28.

Wilson has served as LSU’s running backs coach and associate head coach since 2022. He was elevated to interim head coach after Brian Kelly was fired.

Wilson will reconnect with Golding, who was his defensive coordinator at UTSA from 2016-2017.

The move could pave the way for current Ole Miss running back coach Kevin Smith to end up in Baton Rouge with Lane Kiffin again.

If you think Frank Wilson going to Ole Miss won't affect LSU Louisiana HS recruiting, then you don't know shyt. You do know Frank don't just recruit RB's, he recruit the Boot. Frank is the reason Lamar Brown, Richard Anderson and all dem Karr kids sign with LSU. I just hope with Ole Piss stealing our ex GM and our best recruiter don't come back and bite us in the arse, cause we will be facing a very motivated Frank Wilson.

I wish Frank nothing but the best. Unfortunately I think his message got a little stale and his RB rotations were terrible. I hope we don’t lose Berry to Ole Miss now though. Kevin Smith is over 10 years younger than F so I welcome some young blood to the RB room.

Is this a mistake? I hope Lane has an accurate read on the situation. He's the coach and I'm not. I've always felt a little secure in recruiting when he was on our side. Of course that could have been a false read on my part. Not many seem to be that upset about it.

Been good for LSU overall to have him. Big time NOLA recruiter but........the years he was gone, LSUI did as good as ever in recruiting in NOLA!

He may have been good at recruiting but he was very very bad as interim head coach. I don't think I've ever seen a sideline more disorganized. He could not sub, he seemed lost a lot and was terrible at managing the clock.
