Multiple sources are reporting that LSU tight end coach Steve Ensminger is expected to be elevated to offensive coordinator on a full-time basis to replace Matt Canada.

LSU has not confirmed the news but both The Advocate and NOLA.com are reporting that the decision is expected to be completed in the coming days.

Both websites also report that current LSU consultant and longtime NFL receivers coach Jerry Sullivan will be hired for a full-time position on the staff and will work alongside Ensminger. Sulivan's title will likely be passing game coordinator. Per The Advocate:

Ed Orgeron plans to hire the former LSU quarterback and longtime assistant as his offensive coordinator, barring any last-minute snags, multiple sources confirmed Monday night to The Advocate. The move is not yet final but is expected to be completed in the coming days.

LSU officials reached Monday could not confirm the report.

Ensminger is expected to work alongside LSU consultant and longtime NFL receivers coach Jerry Sullivan, who is expected to be given a significant role in the offense. Sullivan's exact title is unclear, but he is likely to have a heavy hand in the Tigers' passing game.
Ensminger, 59, served as interim offensive coordinator for eight games in 2016, taking over the offense after Les Miles and Cam Cameron were fired just four games into the season.

He went 6-2 during that span, averaging 41 points in the wins but produced just 10 total points in the two losses to Alabama and Florida.

Sullivan, 73, joined LSU's support staff last August, working with wide receiver coach Mickey Joseph in an off-the-field role helping with game-planning and film study.

He was LSU's wide receiver coach from 1984-1990 and coached wideouts in the NFL for over 20 years with several teams.

Since Ensminger is already on staff, does this mean LSU can finally hire a special teams coach?

I am not going to overreact until I see what they are able to produce. Right now you can only predict what will happen, but all we can do is see how it works out. If it does then that's good for us, if it doesn't things will correct itself. Ensminger didn't do a bad job when he was calling plays after Miles left so I think it's fail to at least see how things go before already giving up on the team.

You can just LOOK at Orgeron and tell he's not even in the same league as Saban and Georgi's coach.

I don’t see anyone in the same league as Saban. Probably the best college football coach ever! Unfortunately!

WTF is going on...Is LSU administration and Coach O blind...You have someone that knows offense and knows the SEC and knows how to recruit & develop a qb and beat Bama...but you are going to choose someone that hasn't been a full time OC since when??? You beat Bama by spreading them out...but you want to run pro style power I with play action...WTF....
