Paul Finebaum was on ESPN's 'First Take' this week and said he would go with Ohio State to win the National Championship over LSU if both teams end up playing eachother at the end of the season. Per SDS:
quote:

“I’m going to surprise some people right now by saying I think Ohio State might beat LSU,” he said. “It would be a neutral-site game, but to me, if you look at LSU, as great as that win was the other day, they’ve had a couple of narrow wins. I mean, they beat Auburn by 3 at home. They had a heavyweight fight vs. Florida. It went back and forth and back and forth before they finally won by 2 scores. They also had a narrow win against Texas, which isn’t a great team. (Texas is) barely a good team. Ohio State is just shredding teams. They have eviscerated teams. Right now, I would favor Ohio State in that game.”

Buckeyes are for real. They might actually be better than LSU.

Yeah, if it isn't Alabama or Auburn, Paul is not that interested and doesn't believe in them. Go Tigers!

He can pick Ohio State that's fine. Free country. But you can't brag about how they have destroyed teams. These are the teams they have eviserated. Florida Atlantic, Cincinnait, Indiana, Miami, OH, Northwestern (could be the worst team in the Big 10) Wisconsin (1 quality win), Maryland (gets destroyed every week). Call me when they eviserate Penn State and Michigan. Doubt that will happen. They could win both games but unless they eviscerate them your argument is kind of mute.

They have eviscerated teams!? Who have they played!? And what's more irritating is that Texas, to 10 at the time, "Oh they're not really that good". Why!? Because LSU beat them!? "Oh Florida was back and forth." Didn't we win!? They were trying to down play our win against Auburn, but now that Bama needs a statement game, all of a sudden Auburn is actually better than we thought! Get over it Finebum! Your precious Bama and butt buddy Saban lost to the superior team and realistically, there isn't a team in the country that can mess with LSU right now! Ohio state hasn't played anyone and will get exposed in the playoffs once they face real competition! Just like every year!

Valid points. This isn't the first time Auburn has been placed on the back burner until the game suddenly became important to Bama. Seems to be the M.O. anytime Bama gets beat and needs a good win to boost their strength of schedule. Auburn could have 4 losses and would be the best 4 loss team in the country (whatever that means) if it meant strengthening Bama's resume.

He also said a "Neutral site" The Louisiana Superdome!? Wouldn't exactly call that neutral. Not even a little bit! That game will be pack to the brim with Tiger fans! It would essentially be a home game for LSU. Might as well be playing in Death Valley!

Clown... No knock on Ohio St. but no sane person can think they'd beat LSU at this point in the season based on resume alone

Just like paul, judging two teams with no common opponents. And where are they potentially playing, Oh yeah the Louisiana Super Dome. The same place they lost before, when we backdoored into the game.

Biggest win vs Wisconsin. Good one. After that it's Big 10 bottom dweller Indiana and Cincinnati as the best wins. Not exactly murderers row.

Paul is a clown that will never give anybody credit outside of a couple SEC teams. I hate everything about him and wish ESPN would find someone who is actually knowledgeable to be the mouthpiece of the SEC

Imagine not thinking Joe would relish the opportunity to play the team that didn't believe in him, and absolutely eviscerate them.

"I'm going o surprise some people..." No, Paul. You're not surprising anyone.

LSU, Auburn, Florida, UGA, Bama and I'll even say A&m would be undefeated right now if they had OSU's schedule

Fair point. I think the difference is how badly OSU beat them. Beat Wisconsin by 31. Beat Cincinnati by 42. These are CFP committee top 25 teams.

Each & every announcer on ESPN has an agenda , as does the sorry arse network itself. Sometimes the announcements may favor LSU , sometimes not , but rest assured there is a reason for every word that comes out of those fricked up announcers. SASmith especially chaps my ass. He better hope he never has car trouble near my house. frick HIM , & all his adorers.

Pawl. Pawl, Pawl........the point spread is secondary to the fact that they played quality opponents and won each of those games mentioned. The went into Tuscaloosa and hung 46 points on your precious Crimson Tide......more points than any team has ever scored in DBS.

I don’t disagree. They whipped Wisconsin and Cincinnati. LSU’s Defense, unfortunately has let equal or lesser teams keep it close. Obviously LSU has the better resume, but that’s not what this is about.
