LSU backup safety Matthew Langlois has medically retired from football after dealing with injuries for most of his career.

Langlois appeared in nine games during his true freshman season in 2021 but suffered a season-ending injury in the home opener vs. Southern in 2022 and missed all of the 2023 season.

Good luck kid in whatever you do. Your life is just starting. Get your degree and maybe go into coaching. One door closes, another opens.

Best of luck young man. Put the same desire and drive into your career outside of football and you’ll get to wherever you want to be.

I hate that for the kid. It’s sucks especially bad for the ones who truly want to play for LSU. But he’ll get a degree and he’ll always be a Tiger.

hate this for the kid … wishing him the best in all future endeavors. Geaux Tigers!

That sucks I was hoping Langlois was going to be something, it’s a shame the injuries wouldn’t let him reach his potential. Good luck in whatever comes next Matthew and thanks for being a Tiger

Did you see our DB play last year? He would have gotten a shot if healthy.

Didnt know you could medically retire from College sports. Can’t one just say, Im no longer playing? Are there perks for medically retiring from college sports?

I think you can keep your scholarship. Used to be abused as a way to process guys and might still be.

It was called NCAA Medical Hardship (ie going on medical).

The process is led by training staff and drs which goes through an approval process involving the AD, school President and NCAA admins. It removes the affected from the 85 man roster, maintains their scholly and reopens an open spot for a replacement.

Least how I remember it
