It will be the first meeting between LSU and Central Michigan on the gridiron. Other non-conference games set for 2021 include LSU traveling to face UCLA in the season-opener on September 4 and the Tigers hosting McNeese State on September 11.

Central Michigan, a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) is currently 2-0 this year with wins over Rhode Island and Kansas. The Chippewas have played in a bowl game for three straight years.
LSU will pay Central Michigan $1.45 million for the game, according to The Advocate:

I don't want to play teams like that. Gives them a "cause game" at our expense.

Can't play Bama every week. We'd never finish the season with a healthy team. We play more ranked teams every year than most any other team in the nation, being in the SEC West. Plus, Florida every year. I do agree, however, that we should pay State schools for these tune up games and give them a chance to play in Tiger Stadium. Good all around!

If idiot LSU fans had a tiny inkling of reading comprehension they would have noticed in the first paragraph quoted above that LSU travels to play UCLA in the first game of the 2021 season. But yeah, let's also play Florida State, Oklahoma and Ohio State that year also. Idiots
