On his ‘Always College Football’ podcast this week, ESPN's Greg McElroy discussed several 'bubble teams' that are still in contention for the 12-team college football playoff, including LSU.

The Tigers (6-2) have games coming up against Alabama in Tiger Stadium, at Florida, followed by home games against Vanderbilt and Oklahoma.

McElroy said LSU obviously needs to win out to finish the season but will still need help from other teams to get into the playoff. Per On3:
quote:

“They’re a slight dog at home against Alabama, they’re a slight favorite on the road at Florida at about six, six and a half, and they’re a double-digit favorite at home against Vandy and Oklahoma. Win out would mean they’re 10-2 with head-to-head over Alabama and Ole Miss. So, they need to win out,” said McElroy. “Alabama? That would give them their third loss. But they need Ole Miss to beat Georgia so that Ole Miss win looks a little bit better and LSU is being measured against Ole Miss. They also probably need to hope that A&M wins out. They also need to hope that USC beats Notre Dame in the season finale.”

“So LSU needs quite a bit of help. I’m not saying that it’s completely out of the realm of possibility. But I do think, at this point, it’s probably out of their control as to whether or not they can get in,” McElroy said. “They just need help. They need other teams to lose.”

He is flat out wrong. I don't see a team making it to the SEC championship game needing help getting into the playoff. All we need to do is win out and we will play one of the Texas teams in the championship game

He isn't even mentioning that if LSU wins out there is a very good chance that they will be in the SEC Championship. In fact, after today, they could actually control their own destiny in terms of SEC Championship game if Ga and A&M lose?

This dude drunk?

We are ranked 16th. We win 4 in a row, they won't be ranked in the top 10 at 10-2, regardless of sec champ or not?

He's right , LSU failed in College Station. How is he wrong ?

Also, He doesn't speak bad of LSU , He has spoke well of LSU over the years.

But these Clowns below is another story..

Chris Childers, Speak Bad of LSU and the South all the time. He's a snowflake that soft with a Big Mouth. Spills his garbage on Full Ride on Sirius XM College Sports Nation.

Danny Kanell, Talks junk on LSU a lot.

The announcers Mark Jones (play-by-play), Roddy Jones (analyst) for LSU vs Arkansas took many diggs at LSU during the game.

And of course Gary Danielson was a habitual Shot taker at LSU.

Greg McElroy is no where near these Clowns as a LSU Hater.

I agree with you, Greg isn't like those you Mentioned. But I did"t agree with all his takes like I'm sure you don't. And LSU coaching staff had no answer to guy who problaly knew 1/2 the playbook. I blame the Coaching for that lost to the aggies.

Greg is an Alabama homer and LSU hater.

It was great watching him get eviscerated on his reddit AMA after he openly shilled for Alabama last year

He’s wrong. LSU at 10-2, and more importantly 7-1 in the SEC, is in the playoff.

I think he is wrong at this point. 10-2 and we are likely in SEC Champ at 7-1. I expect A&M to beat Texas. And Ga to beat TN. That LSU has chance to be top 4 at 11-2 as Champs.

LOL LSU isn't winning the SEC Championship. LSU needs to win out. Finish 2nd in SEC and hopefully back door into SEC Champ game against AtM. That's the only team LSU can beat in SEC champ. Georgia or Tennessee would beat LSU. But I don't know even if they can beat Bama at home next week.

what makes you think that? WTF has Texas done? Barely beat Vandy? Beat State? Beat OU? The only team they have played worth a shite they got the shite beat out of them at home....and that team isn't that damn good, they are getting beat by Fl right now, and should have lost to KY, and did lose to Alabama.

Ya he is. If lsu wins out, they only need AM to beat Texas to go to SECCG

10-2 and 7-1 in sec and lsu is in. Come on now. Big if but “if” they win out they are in.

Maybe not this year, if there are four or five SEC teams in that range. But just win your games....other things seem to take care of themselves.

I usually like McElroy but he was touting Washington State as a playoff team. I have a hard time seeing any 2 loss SEC teams not get in.

Well we lost to what is looking like a mediocre at best, USC team. So it’s not like we lost to AnM and UGA.
