Garrett Nussmeier To Start Chiefs' Preseason Finale, Could Play The Entire Game

Former LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will get a big opportunity Friday night when the Kansas City Chiefs wrap up the preseason against the Seattle Seahawks.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid announced this week that Nussmeier will start the game and could potentially play all four quarters with quarterback Chris Oladokun still in concussion protocol.
Nussmeier, a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, has completed 22-of-36 passes for 172 yards through Kansas City's first two preseason games.
Reid has also been impressed with the rookie during practice after giving him reps with the first-team offense this week.
"He's done a nice job," Reid said. "We threw him right into the fire there with the first group, and I thought he handled it well."
Nussmeier will now have one more extended opportunity to make his case for a roster spot before the Chiefs make their final cuts.
