Former LSU QB Jamie Howard joined ESPN's 104.5 FM’s Culotta & The Prince morning show on Wednesday morning and talk about how Brandon Harris received death threats after the Wisconsin game that "shook him up." Per The Advocate:
quote:

“It shook him up when he got the death threats,” Howard said later in the radio interview. “The only advice I’ve given him is, ‘The truth of the matter is everybody’s going to be watching you from the stands, how you handle yourself while you’re on the bench and how you deal with Danny and the coaching staff, but all of those people don’t matter. The only people that matter is what your teammates see. If they need you to go back into the game at some point, they need to be confident in you and see that you’re confident.’

“He’s doing well. He’s a great kid,” Howard said. “I’m hoping he’ll get through it. This is going to be good in the long term.”

anyone who issues a death threat on social media is a spineless coward. This kid is doing his best. They all are. Sometimes is meets standards and sometimes it doesn't. They all want to succeed. I bet ALL of these cowards a never met the bar in their personal lives........and never will. Stay tough keyboard warriors. One day reality may physically punch you in your face. And you deserve every bit you get and even more

I love football and I am very passionate about LSU football, but to threaten a kids life over a game is asinine. Brandon Harris did not play well, but he is a good kid with a bright future. He is a LSU Tiger and I support him.

Who the hell sends death threats to college football players? The frick is wrong with people?

I can't imagine that anyone who would send death threats to a kid is someone whose opinion would matter.

While true, it's hard to see it that way as a younger person.. and it's still very discouraging when it comes from your own fan base.

Every fan base has its own share of bad apples. Hopefully BH and future recruits realize that these scums don't represent 99% of the Tiger fans. That being said, whoever sent out death threats to college athletes who played their heart out for their university should despise themselves and don't deserve to be a Tiger fan!

Death threats.....really???? Folks, it's only football. It's not worth investing that kind of passion on something that has no real bearing on your real life.

Agree. Win or Lose it's just entertainment and I still have to work Monday morning.

I know of two kickers who basically lost games in LSU's favor - Oregon State and Alabama - who received them. It is sad.

All you super fans need to get a grip of your own sad arse lives if you're sending death threats to Harris

Hell IMO it would be worth the money to get the FBI and NSA involved to track down these people that send these death threats to college athletes....that is if LSU isn't pursuing this already.

Threatening a kid over football is trashy. It's the trailer-people portion of the fanbase. Clearly alumni, am I right?

Those were probably Ole Miss and Bama fans pretending to be LSU fans sending Harris death threats.

I heard an old oak tree at his parents house mysteriously died.

Very possibly, like the posters who insist that we always blame the players and not the coaches when LSU loses. Trying to make LSU look bad for recruits.

This could, and probably does happen all over the country to college & pro players, so not like this is an LSU issue only...But other coaches may try to use it as an anti-LSU recruiting tool...

Howards 6 int's in a game we really had wrapped up may not be the worst loss in our history but its in the top 5. Hallman should have been fired on his way to the locker room. Unbelievable. I understand through all of that J. Howard has done a number of great deeds/donations for his alma mater.

I was at LSU at the time & remember it well. Dark days for LSU for several reasons. Props to J. Howard for living through that & becoming a huge supporter & great alumnus of LSU.

Any LSU "fan" that sent him death threats should be publicly beaten and humiliated if true. I care a whole hell of a lot about winning, but this is a kid playing a game. Get some perspective.

This is just as absurd as the death threats. Don't lower your standards bc of immature losers out there.

Talk about a blast from the past. I remember being a kid and my father calling out LSU fans sitting behind us that were yelling obscenities at him.

"I bleed Purple and Gold, LSU is my life, man," Harvey Williams, LSU 5th all-time rusher said. "At the end of the day, Les Miles and Cammy-Cam (offensive coordinator Cam Cameron) need to be run out of Baton Rouge, like them ol' Frankenstein movies with torches and all that. Everybody in Baton Rouge ought to light a torch. "We sat there and watched this last year. After the third play of the (Wisconsin) game, I knew it was the same thing. It's not fair to all those kids out there. If Billy Cannon were dead right now, he'd be rolling in his grave. I feel like I'm watching the '56-'57 football team that was running like a 1920 offense." On why LSU struggles passing the ball: "It's about practice. You create an environment so hostile for that kid (starting quarterback Brandon Harris), you make a practice a lot harder than the games. You can't put that (Wisconsin) loss on that kid. You've got to put that on Cam Cameron. What does Cam Cameron make, $1.5 million? (Actually, it's $1.3 million). He ought to give $1.2 of it back."

"Bo Schembechler ball is dead"- wrong, Bo is dead but his ball is still alive and well and every Hollowennie Bo rises out of his grave and whispers in Miles' ear dat he be "Da' Man."

Howard got it really bad, followed by Josh Booty, Marcus Randall, Jarrett Lee, Jordan Jefferson, Anthony Jennings, and now Brandon Harris. I think the intensity of the wrath affected their play on the field to some degree.

What's so ridiculous about all this, death threats aside even, is that there's this opinion amongst some fans that Harris, or insert QB name here, is that he is somehow just out there trying to screw the team fans when all he's really doing is doing his very best, and it's just not working out for him. Some people need to really just step away and get some perspective, and grow the hell up. It's ridiculous the Even people take this sport to sometimes.
