LSU head coach Ed Orgeron joined the "3ManFront," a sports radio show in Birmingham, AL on Wednesday and talked about LSU's new spread offense that is being installed this spring.
quote:

"We are going to be very multiple," Orgeron said. "We are putting in a spread offense. Mainly out of one-back situations. Three wide receivers, sometimes four, sometimes five."

"We will also have some personnel in when we need to bang it out there, just like LSU knows how to do," Orgeron said. "We'll go north and south, not as many shifts and motions. Mainly reading the defense and taking what the defense gives us. And do a great job of play calling."

"I think one of the biggest strengths were are going to have is our offensive line. Were big, physical and have a lot of guys returning.

"Steve Ensminger is a tireless worker, he's an LSU Tiger and I know he's going to come up with a great offense."

Ensminger is a genius. This is going to be an outstanding year for the offense. Might set some records.

I sense the sarcasm and laugh at the humor as well. Time will tell and I hope you are right.

Expect so 6-3 or 9-7 games this fall. Defense should be nasty and O will struggle no doubt. I am excited either way to get past all these other inferior seasons. Geaux Tigers

Funny, people were throwing a fit about les running the ball every play now they are wining about O running the spread. Some people just find a reason to cry and moan.

It looks like Myles’s upper arms are bigger than his wrists. Thank you Steve Moffitt!

If Teddy Bridgewater can be successful, so can Brennan

“Mainly reading the defense and taking what the defense gives us. And do a great job of play calling." So he’s admitting this will be a new strategy?

We hear about alleged improvements to the offense every year and nothing ever happens.

It doesn't matter O says or what LSU does...some LSU fans won't like it. They won't like anything. For being fans, it sure is odd they hate LSU so much. No matter what.

It isn't that. We hear about an improved offense every Spring, and it hasn't come to fruition. Everyone hopes it will, but as fans we've earned the right to be salty.

I think you're being overly optimistic that "everyone" hopes it will. It's pretty clear that some LSU fans want the team to fail. Maybe they like chaos. Maybe they think that will prove them "right." Whatever it is, not everyone wants the team (or O) to do well. And yes, that's just sad.

Nope. Just what I said. Perhaps your days at Florida State have clouded your judgement about what "we LSU fans" want.

If they're moving to a spread, gotta think that Narcisse has the edge. He's unstoppable in the spread option
user avatar
airfernando73 months
Pretty clear narcisse will have a package but not play much.
user avatar
I believe LN will hav packages with some option runs but I'm sure O envisions that west coast single back 3-4 wide flexing the TE etc etc. USC / Pete carol offense. That's wht O wants and Myles Brennan could shine n that system. He fits that mold of USC qbs of the past. if Myles wins the job over LN there better be several packages for Lowell. He is a dynamic weapon and if he's #2 n this fall I hope it's more than 1-2 plays every game or two. 7-10 plays a game would be perfect IMO and if he gets hot obviously more than that

He’s unstoppable according to what? The guy hasn’t even taken a snap.

Man you guys are some debbie downers!! At least Give O some credit for finally changing the prehistoric Offense LSU has been running for last 10 years. If one of the Qb's steps up the offense could be fun.

Remember last spring/summer when O told the fans how revamped the offense would be? I think people are just tired of being let down year after to year.
user avatar
jpbmill73 months
Year after year we're told the offense is going to be revamped. Year after year it's not. What makes you think it's going to be any different this time around?

"I know he's going to come up with a great offense." Translation: Hope & Pray, because I don't know anything about all that.

2nd thought... kinda late to be "coming up with a great offense"
