Good to see this young man have the chest to accept his mistakes and clear up his dismissal. Good luck to you Donte (if you are reading TD).

Good for this kid... I wish more of them would speak up for themselves in situations like this and shut the door on the speculation. Now anybody who wants to pass judgment is doing this out of ignorance. And for those who think it is so simple to pass these "easy" classes, check yourself. You were probably taught how to go to school and be responsible with your academics in HS. Well in case you did not notice, when you are a star athlete in HS, you often get privileges. And unfortunately, those privileges do not help prepare you for college. I would be inclined to blame his HS for not preparing him for college before I put all the fault on the kid. If he was able to slide by in HS because of his athletic status, then why would he think he would not be able to slide by in college where he is part of one of, if not THE, best team in college football history? ... just a thought

Positive and right attitude will always overcome any problems, set backs and obstacles. Stay encouraged.

Yeah, good on him for being a man about it and taking responsibility. We all experience challenges and failures in life, it’s how you respond that matters. Hopefully he can apply himself, get the help he needs, and find his way back to big time football.

His grades must have been back to back bad semesters (since he was a freshman). Usually, after 1 bad one you're on probation and 2 consecutive you're out of school.

So the tweet has been removed from this article or is it just not visible on mobile?

He stood up like a man to say it was academics. Best-of-luck to you, Donte. If you hang in there your time will surely come.

I like this kid. It takes a big person to understand and accept responsibility for their shortcomings. He handled the last situation well too. It’s just all quite unfortunate.

School is just harder for some people. Doesn’t make them dumb, some people just learn differently than others. I really hope there’s a way he can find his way back to LSU by the time he’s a senior.

You serious? I obtained a study guide for a final exam from a football player once and there were 100 things to learn and the test was 100 questions. The rest of the class had over 300 bullet points to learn for the 100 question exam. Poor guy. Life is hard.

the Sports Administration major that most athletes take is something my 10 year old daughter could handle. I applaud him for admitting the problem ,but damn, these guys take the easiest classes in the world, and have tutors to help them. If they can’t stay eligible, I simply don’t know what to say.

He actually seems pretty mature about this. He admitted what the problem was and is going to try to make the best of the situation. Best of luck to him.

WTF does that mean? I bet Nicholls will take him in a heartbeat and I can guarantee that Tim Rebowe will take him second! Don't be a douchebag about if a get can make it or not academically!

"about if a get can make it or not"??? Sounds like YOU shouldn't try it in "harvard on the bayou" also.
