Head coach Brian Kelly met with the media after LSU's 45-35 win over Florida on Saturday night and said that wide receiver Jack Bech left the game early with a strain in his lower back that tightened up.

Bech muffed a punt in the 2nd quarter that Florida recovered and quickly turned into 7-points. After the muffed punt, Bech exited the game and later returned to the sideline in street clothes.

Kelly still plans to stick with Bech at punt returner, he said.

Jack Bech is our most valuable emotional leader. The guy leaves it all out on the field and give 100% every play. Teams win and teams lose, not individual players. Thank you, Jack Bech, for passing on a full ride to Harvard and playing your heart out for LSU. Keep playing with your passion and go have fun! What you give far outweigh a couple or human errors on special teams.

Let's get a noteworthy "assistant" for the special teams coach. I understand the players are responsible for performance on the field. But, coaches are paid to improve performance. Maybe the coach needs some help too

Make sure and get Jack Bech and Malik Nabers each a bag of Butterfingers candy bars for Halloween!

Stop ignoring the miscues. If there is no one better to field punts then let the damn thing hit the turf and start from wherever the punting team downs it. Enough of this stupidity with muffed punts.

If a ball has been punted you must under all circumstances catch the ball.

Even in this W, special teams remain an obvious weak spot. It's game in, game out with this unit.

Like getting the yips with 4 foot putts, it becomes mental and has a life of its own, good to let someone else do it.

I agree. The Clayton kid is sure-handed, smart and really quick on returns when given the opportunity. I think they should roll with him on PR.

It’s now more of a mental thing with Bech. Hope it doesn’t cost us a game.

Bech catches punts with his hands.

I do not like this.

What’s he supposed to catch it with, his dick?

Bech is not getting it done. His failures are at crucial times and have consequences. If he’s the best, there are real problems His poor performance has hurt the team.

Needs to be pulled from returning kicks

How do you get 7 dislikes for this? Everybody was in agreement to take Nabors off after FSU, yet Bech has muffed 2 punts in 2 straight games that led to easy points for both teams (Nabors's gaffes didn't lead to any).

The way LSU players field kicks and punts looks super awkward. Looks like there taking a handoff. Check out hand placement relative to other teams.

Yep, I have to think this has something to do with technique which falls on Polian. Nabers and Bech are both super sure handed.

What would a fair catch signal have allowed? the damn ball hit him in his face mask, not his hands.

Maybe BK thinks If he hadn't been trying to run after fielding the ball he would’ve concentrated more of the catching part?

He was looking upfield to see where he was going to run. If he fair catches he keeps his eyes on the ball.

Calling for a fair catch would not have stopped him from muffing the punt. His hand position was incorrect. He never got his hands underneath the ball.

It very well could have prevented the muffed punt because he took his eyes off of that ball right before it hit his hands. That happened because he was trying to take off running before he secured the catch.

He is a hard-nosed FB player. As a slot WR, YES. As a returner, no. We have to do better.

Sorry for the pain this kid is experiencing. I’m starting to believe this is more a coaching problem then player problem. This must be corrected ASAP
