Tips for the Square

Creating a threat for tips for Tigers planning to celebrate our victory on the Square...
I'll start:
* Make sure you prepare yourself for cover charges. They're going to be steep if you want to go to the Library, Rounders, and other bars in the Square area.
* If you're staying somewhere close to campus, make sure you keep it saved on your phone. Plenty of Uber/Lyft drivers to get you safely home.

Even if I do somehow end up on the square, paying 60 bucks to get into the Library will not be on my list.

I think $60 might be too low, to be honest. Think they were charging $100 a head after the first home game.

Is the cover charge steepness unique to Oxford? The largest cover I can recall paying was $75 for a club at MGM casino in Vegas.

Went in '19, post game they were charging $80. If you want to go to any bars there, go early and get a wristband, cheaper covers, but this weekend may not be such a thing

Maybe. Think you just always have high demand for bars, so they can ask a lot and will usually get it.

My in laws who were Ole Piss grads informed me that cover charge may exceed over $200 at the library this weekend

There a few Uber/lyft pickup stations around the square now. So you have to go to those to get picked up now and not just right on the street/intersection of wherever you call your rideshare
There’s one by the parking garage and another down the hill by Harrison’s bar.. can’t remember where the others are
But yes this weekend it will be too crowded and also. With the late gametime and you may get back to the square by 11 and can snag a couple hours of partying or standing in line to party or wait for a drink or to pee. Sounds like hell to me

Make sure you have cash and don’t do anything stupid in front of the OPD tent.

Last time I went to Oxford years ago, they closed all of the bars at midnight on Saturday because of a blue law in their county about no alcohol on Sunday. I don't know of that is still the case but anyone going should be a aware if they are trying to go out after the game.

Ubers to and from surrounding towns assuming will be no big deal after the game? 20-30 min outside Oxford

The town is not large enough to support a normal big game. It will be clusterfrick city there all weekend long. The bars and restaurants will not be able to accommodate even half of the people present. Ubers outside of town will likely take over an hour to pick up and cost hundreds of dollars.

Maybe at noon Saturday
Library will be $100 cover most of the weekend

Pay the meters — which actually just got changed to a Kiosk type deal. No meter at each spot but they will be giving tickets if not paid. Although idk how they check? Scan the plate maybe??

With these high cover charges are these bars even nice? Or just the owners getting stinking rich off stupid college kids with money.
Laughable a North Mississippi small
town bar charges a $100 cover when most of the state residents are living in poverty.

It doesn't at all, but it's not for everyone.

Prepare for 2+ hour waits for restaurants.

Yes, and wear some boots from all the crying from Ole Miss fans.
