re: What is a good lasagna recipe?
Posted by driftwoodtigerfan on 8/19/26 at 8:32 pm to prplhze2000
Belwether Farms Basket Ricotta Cheese! It’s a game changer. I can get it at Central Market in TX(Southlake for me). I typically do a veggie lasagna but add my homemade pork sausage to it.

Absolutely! I grew German Queen Heirlooms this year and they made the best BLT’s! Otherwise, I do not go out of way to make them.

I do not know anyone on this board. I mean I probably do but don’t know it.(except for my son who I recruited! A new generation!) I do not remember how I found TD but I it’s been awesome! I’m around everyday! Congrats on your accomplishment and thank you!

It will be our first time there. We were hoping to drive or be driven around to some of the towns, visit wineries, and experience some amazing dining. I don't wish to have long commutes back to where we stay so I guess that is why we are trying to split the two areas.

I have considered this. Having never been I was thinking it would be nice to experience a different area-scenes, wineries, and restaurants, without the drive back to Chianti. Thank you for your suggestion!
Tuscany/Val d' Orcia-Stay recommendations
Posted by driftwoodtigerfan on 8/13/26 at 3:38 pm
I have just spent hours over days planning and putting our trip to Italy together. Booked Rome, Florence, Chianti, Amalfi stays and feel good about it. For some reason, I just cannot pull the trigger on a stay for 2 nights in Val d' Orcia. I think I am having a hard time with agroturismo stays for some reason and there are so many. We like higher end places but do not wish to pay splurge like rates per night everywhere we go on this trip. Any personal experiences and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
re: Do you actually enjoy eating Dove?
Posted by driftwoodtigerfan on 7/28/26 at 6:10 pm to FAT SEXY
As far as a game bird for eating it's pretty damn good! It's not like dove is on the weekly rotation for meal planning. The season comes, your shoot em, and eat em. Then you move on to the gourmet stuff, right?
re: My grass will not survive on once a week watering right now

North Texas-2x's per week and it turned brown while out of town for less than a week. Now watering 3x's per week and it is rebounding. My water bill is gonna be ridiculous.
re: Just had flooring insulation done and now home is more humid and hotter than ever
Posted by driftwoodtigerfan on 7/24/26 at 4:50 pm to rpg37
I am not suggesting that I know what your issue is but I thought sharing what I just learned could help. Our house is only 3 years old and we have had humidity issues from the start. Recently, I noticed that my catch pan under my furnace was and has been holding water for a long time as it was rusted badly. HVAC service came out to troubleshoot. He found mold growing inside of my plenum box. He said that my blower was set too high for a home with spray foam insulation. It was cooling too fast and not running long enough creating humidity or allowing it to run high. He lowered the blower setting a couple of speeds and installed an ultraviolet light in my plenum box to kill and stop mold growth. Lowering the setting almost immediately lowered my humidity levels from low 60's to low 50's.
re: Grill Talk: Can some of you share your recent experiences buying grills?
Posted by driftwoodtigerfan on 7/9/26 at 5:37 pm to DiamondDog
There are many good ones out there. I struggled for a year trying to pick which one. I was trying to pick a pellet grill but at the end of the year I could not do it and landed on the Weber Kamado. I absolutely love it. Super easy to cook anything any way. High heat and fast or low and slow. Holds temp amazingly well. Could not be happier! Best cooks-Dino ribs and briskets.

re: What’s the worst game you’ve ever seen at Tiger Stadium?
Posted by driftwoodtigerfan on 7/3/26 at 10:35 pm to papasmurf1269
Triple overtime loss to Arkansas. 11/23/2007. Side note. LSU overtime loss to TN that was rescheduled due to Katrina. After the game my friend was like “why aren’t you more upset”. I was like “Dude, I just went through a hurricane and it sucked. This just feels like a game to me right now.”
re: What was your first game seeing LSU

Earthquake Game Oct 8 1988. Day before my birthday. LSU/Auburn. 7-6. Side note. My Dad graduated from LSU in 1958 and he and my Mom attended the LSU/Ole Miss Halloween night Billy Cannon infamous win 1959.

Emerald Lake is great too and less challenging. Do your research.

I am in the Durango area and am frequently. Drove through Pagosa Springs over to Creede today. No issues. Can see a haze in the mountain views and the smoke from fires off to the NW & NE. As far as Estes Park, hike to Sky Pond and thank me later. Did it last year on a torn meniscus. Doing it again in two weeks. Start before or at dawn. You do need a pass to get into the park. If you cannot get it ahead of time you can get it pretty easily the evening before. You just have to go online and be ready to pull the trigger. I think it is 7pm? It is entry time based. They hold a few passes for this purpose.

Twice. Both from eating raw oysters. Did not learn my lesson the 1st time. Definitely did the second. Have not nor ever will eat another raw oyster.

re: If you don't prefer cold weather, coastal SC has the best weather in the country

No one mentioned living in more than one place. Most any place is suitable for half or more of a year. My goal is to live in Texas close to an international airport and good healthcare for the cooler/colder months and Colorado for the other. Hunt, fish, travel, spend times with my kids and hopefully one day grandkids.

There is a lot we do not know here but for what it’s worth, I just did a lot of research in order to choose one. I pulled the trigger on Winkbeds. I bought the luxury firm. Been sleeping very comfortably. Good luck!
