PACIFICA, Calif. (AP) — Top dogs were riding waves Saturday at the annual World Dog Surfing Championships as hundreds of spectators cheered -- and barked -- from the Northern California beach.
From small spaniels to large labs, the canines were judged on factors including how long they could stay on their board, the size of the wave and their confidence. In its 10th year, the contest in Pacifica, about 14 miles (22 kilometers) south of San Francisco, includes a pet adoption event and fundraising for local animal charities.
The dogs, sporting their colorful life vests, stood ready on their surfboards and were assisted by human participants, who spotted the best wave to carry the board to the beach. Spectators erupted in applause and cheered with each successful ride.
Sophia Sadlowski first put her Miniature Pinscher, Rusty, on her surfboard to capture fun photos when he was just a puppy.

Those dogs do not appear to be enjoying themselves.

They can make me open doors for them.

Sally can wear spectacles.
She’s also a super polite beggar of morsels… you can’t get mad at her because she doesn’t paw, bark, whine or anything.. but still can make you feel guilty as sin if you don’t share.
She also has the neatest trick of following from in front… that one is not my favorite.

My border collie knows how to open the back door of the house to let herself out or back in. Other than that, no other cool tricks.
My youngest blue heeler however, has learned how to launch the cat with her snout about 6 feet into the air for kicks. If you want to count that as a trick
She does it constantly and it cracks me up.

She found a trailed and found a dead deer over 24 hours after it'd been shot. She hasn't been on very many "tough" tracks but she is pretty good at finding dead deer.

Go to the neighbors house, eat their old rotten food scraps then come back into my house and have explosive diarrhea everywhere.

I used to have one that could open a sliding glass door, come in the house, and get in my parent's bed.

When I ask my pup "would you rather be a dead dog or an Alabama fan", he rolls over and plays dead.
It's great being a tiger fan and living in Alabama!

My Golden Retriever rides dirtbike w/ me. Jumps right up and sits down between my thighs w/ paws on the tank and off we go. He's pissed if he hears a fourwheeler, dirtbike or boat crank up without him in it

Mine is a diving dog. Deepest he’s ever gone is 6’. It’s so funny/cool to watch, all you see is his tail sticking out of the water trying to get to the bottom. He will go knock stuff into the pool just to go grab it.

Mine can find a rabbit, then track it in a circle, until I shoot/kill the rabbit.
Fried rabbit tastes similar to fried chicken.
Awesome!

My heelers discovered that if they tear a piece of lattice of the deck they can get underneath the deck, which is apparently the greatest place on earth.
After repairing it, they discovered that there is no way that I can nail lattice up that they can’t defeat.
So I put a broken vacuum cleaner I had under there. Problem solved.

Leave dead squirrels on the carpet if we keep the dog door open for them on beautiful weather days when we're gone.
