Eh. You’d probably look perfectly fine without as much stuff.

Women make it hard on themselves because they dress to impress other women.

I dont see how people travel with a small carry on for a weekend trip. I routinely do Thurs-Sunday trips and need full size luggage. for that type of trip I will have 6-7 changes of clothes and multiple pairs of shoes. I might not wear it all every time but I like having options and backup in case I would happen to spill something on my clothes or whatever.

Plus people are ridiculous with stuffing oversized carryon into the overhead bins. that is way more aggravating than someone checking luggage.

I actually see that with plane and train travel in Europe. Not everyone's a "One Bag Warrior". Maybe they're a blogger carrying equipment? Longer trip?

I guess if you don't have to carrying it all over the place, say go from A to B, don't see the issue. I've travelled close to 1M miles for work and pleasure over the years and I still like to check a bag. Without status, even with status, the jockeying and hassles over getting bin space is something I can live without. And, thank the Lord, we've never lost a bag!

Often I do check a bag depending on the type of travel. However I never check two bags, bring carry on luggage and a backpack or large personal bag even for a two week trip. My wife does what you do. She packs everything she might but probably won’t wear but then in the few minutes before we leave she panics and packs everything else.

I try to exactly the opposite. Personal item or carry on but not both so I usually opt for Southwest or at least one leg at an upgraded class on another airline so I have less restrictive checked baggage requirements.

I used to travel with huge cases and still do for cruises, but I learned u start using a backpack carry on bag. . Then I have a personal bag sized bag I can pack in. I'll buy clothes and donate them rather than travel heavy.

When I lived across the country from family, I'd use one of the giant suitcases to carry gifts each way.

People do this when traveling to carry souvenirs, too.
Or maybe they've got snorkeling sets or medical equipment, or maybe they have business samples?

My wife and I did two weeks in Italy and three weeks in Spain on separate trips. We utilized Airbnb laundries (a couple of times) and hotel laundry service a few times and traveled only with small carry-on suitcases. We were never without clean clothes to wear. It’s not difficult to do.

Hint ladies: They don’t know not do they care that you (gasp) have worn the same clothes(clean) multiple times.

Because for people traveling for more than 5 day trips depending on the situation need a large suit case plus you don’t want to be one of those dipshits that bring carry on that are at the limit size or a little over .

It's all about me and what I think and the options of clothing I want. I have no desire to wear the same pair of pants or shorts 3 times in a week even if it's clean. It's just boring. But I also don't care if I have a large bag and have to check it.

We pack light but some people don’t want to be wearing the same clothes in all their pictures.

hotel laundry service

At least in Brussels, there was an off site laundry a block away that charged 70% less than hotel laundry. I think most FDA will tell you where such services are as long as you don't ask them in front of their managers. Even if work was paying, I had a visceral hate of paying $4 to wash a pair of underwear, or for a pair of socks, with the hotel (Marriott.)

Women are going to do their own thing, but I could pack 6-7 dress shirts for a three week trip for work, and just keep the order random in when I wore them. Summer in Asia can change that calculus a bit though, especially with how the Japanese can smoke you to death in an average restaurant. There's no amount of Febreeze that can make that go away.

Especially if you wear synthetic underwear and undershirts, which I wouldn't re-wear in between washings, they scrunch up into nothing in a bag. For me, taking a 29" on a work trip was designed more around me not having to crush creases into my suits and dress shirts to get them to fit into a 21".

Wow. If you associate with the kind of women that are checking dates and time stamps on your photos to see if you re-wore the same outfit on Monday as well as Saturday... That's rough. I don't get why anyone would care, but I also don't have two X chromosomes, so I am just confused by such a stance.

If your large checked bag gets lost for a couple of days you are FUBAR. At least with my small carryon there's no chance for lost luggage.

gets lost for a couple of days

In a 1M miles (SkyTeam and Star Alliance), I've had two bags that didn't arrive within 4 hours of when I did. One involved changing non interlined carriers in London, Istanbul, arriving in Abu Dhabi (I did it because I essentially had to. The other involved a convulted delay where I was supposed to fly direct to BRU from IAH, but the flight was delayed, I got rebooked on a flight through ORD, boarded the plane, and then they pulled me off for a direct flight to AMS where I rented a car to drive to BRU to make the meeting. I only blame Etihad for making me sit until the last bag came off the conveyor, three hours after I landed, even though their own app told me the bad was still in FRA. United bought me a suit and toiletries with no objections.

If you're flying domestic, just check a firearm. Your bag will never get lost or be delayed.
