Me and my family would go on 2 month long "road trips" every summer when I was a kid.

Now...we would stop at certain places for a week here and there, so...not really a true road trip.

The furthest I have driven straight is from Alexandria, LA to Durango, CO.

Louisiana to Haines, Alaska. Ferry from Haines to Juneau. 4000 miles by road, 10 days. Stayed in Amarillo, Denver, Sheridan, WY, Great Falls, MT, Edmonton AB, Fort Nelson BC, Watson Lake YT, Whitehorse YT, and Haines AK.

Two kids under 10, one of my best trips ever. Kids loved it.

3 month road trip from Georgia to Alaska. We made it up to Deadhorse in a VW van. 16,000 miles for the trip; Alaska wasn't all we did. I really need to do that one again, it was fantastic.

2 years later we spent the summer seeing national parks all over the west, from Big Bend to several in California to the Olympic Peninsula to Glacier and Yellowstone and many points in between. 13,000 miles in 3 months.

Yeah, we were in LA for all of 12-14 hours.... just a bunch of dumb college kids doing things to say they did them.

Coolest parts of the trip were definitely the Grand Canyon (pictures don't do that place justice) and then the drive between there and hopping on the interstate in Flagstaff heading back. Like dozens of huge arse elk just roaming right next to the side of the road. We kept pulling over and seeing how close we could get to them, not understanding the potential dangers and stupidity of it all.

I never liked being in a car. Once I got married and had kids the longest trip I would take would be 5 hours. We finally drove up to the smokies last year and the drive drove me nuts. It's either drive short distances or save and fly now for me.

I love road trips. I try to limit miles at 300-400 a day though.

I kind of like a somewhat long trip by myself if I divide it into days like that.

With the family I'm never doing over 6 hours again.

I thought our trips from the MS Gulf Coast to Connecticut in 23 hours of driving over 2 days was bad.

Cape Town-Tangier-Cape Town by a very circuitous route.

Around 30,000 miles over 6 months and the trip of a lifetime

Knoxville, TN - Prudhoe Bay, AK - Knoxville, TN; not a direct shot either. Stopped in a few national parks out west and a few other places. All on a motorcycle. My suit still has shite on it from Dalton Highway.

Done some other trips out west too, but wasn't as much mileage.

We did a lot of road tripping in college.

Did NOLA - Chicago, twice. in January.

Also did NOLA - Indianapolis, and NOLA - Emporia, KS, with a stop in Memphis.

I personally love a long road trip, but the wife not so much.

New Orleans to Toronto. Stopped in Chicago on the way up. Spent time in Boston, Philadelphia, and D.C. on the way down. Took about 2 1/2 weeks total.
