Three generations of my family getting together in Vegas week after next. Age ranges are 16 to 75, including 3 teenagers. Will be staying at the Venetian. First Vegas trip for all of us in almost 2 decades, will be 5 full days there basically.

Few of us like to gamble but otherwise looking for pointers and tips on what to do. Current plan is to visit Hoover Dam, maybe day trip to grand canyon, Zion national park but otherwise open to suggestions, esp regarding food and sight seeing

Thanks

We just got back a few weeks ago. No kids just the wife and I on a business trip. We did not stay at the Venetian. Here is what little I have:
We had a really good meal in The Black Tap located in the Venetian.
Hoover Dam is well worth it.
If you go to the Fremont Experience I would avoid the Heart Attack Grill. You have to wear a hospital gown while you eat and if you don’t clean your plate you get spanked. The whole Fremont thing is a Bourbon Street atmosphere.
About 90 miles north of Vegas is the Area 51 Travel Center and Brothel. Use your own judgment. I never did figure out if you go there to frick an alien or do aliens go to
get fricked by humans….

5 days in Vegas is a month.

The Rule of LV.

1 night is fine. 2 is right. 3 is too long. 4. You may end up a Coke addict and married to a hooker / waitress / stripper.

Ya it's a tad bit long but figured to walk around take in all the big properties and some time away from the casinos built in there too

You will like the Venetian. Fun place in a good location on the strip and all of the rooms are suites.

Grand Canyon is a long way. I’d do the Valley of Fire instead.

Take the kids to Yardbird at Venetian for chicken and waffles and Grimaldi’s for pizza.

Hit up a Cirque du Soleil show. O and Ka are the best.

Absinthe is the best show on the Strip but it is VERY R-rated.

I’d pay the arm and leg to see Adele.

When you go to Zion stop in at Farmstead Bakery in St George, it is incredible. You could do Valley of Fire State Park and Hoover that day also... long day but you could do that. Angels Landing in Zion requires reservations now to hike fyi.

You should certainly go see the Grand Canyon, it is spectacular and only a couple hours each way.

Death Valley is a few hours north and well worth the drive also.

What else are the non gamblers going to do? There is only so much walking up and down the fricking strip you can do.

We picked the Venetian for a family of 4 because their rooms are basically 2x larger than the standard Vegas room. They offered an upgrade at check-in. Additional $100/night for a room that was 2x larger than what we had booked. Very nice master with huge bathroom, and they gave us 2 very good quality matresses for the kids in the common room, which included sofas, tv and a wet bar. But the kicker was that we also got a 2nd toilet room with a sink.

Wife loved the master, but for a family of 4 with 2 teens, the extra toilet was awesome.

Look into getting a Go City pass. Especially with 5 days you can take full advantage of it. Hoover dam tour is included along a few other things mentioned in this thread.

If you go to Zion look into stopping at Snow Canyon State Park in St. George. They have a few pretty good trails that don’t take all that long.

Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian is an easy, good meal if you need to eat in the casino. I know wrangling a group can be challenging.

Go see Love at the Mirage. All ages enjoy Beatles music. Show has been around forever, but great for someone who’s never been.

Thank you all for the suggestions. What do y'all 5hink about rental car situation? Am thinking rent by the day (as needed) from hertz location at the Venetian. Otherwise the pass is the way to go surely

Bring the family for lunch or dinner to Peppermill on the northern end of the strip it’s a kitschy, retro-LV diner/restaurant/bar with a wide menu, not too expensive; about as family-friendly as LV gets.

if you can get away from the kids or dont mind having them around a few gay jokes, sexual stuff, etc... check out the mad apple show. Get the stagerow seats row a seats 5 and 6, or row b 5 and 6. Its a very unique view of the show and honestly the best deal in vegas considering the price. The comedian parts you wont have a great view but the acts and the rest of the show you are closer to the action than anyone in the theater. Its a great show also. great mix of music, singing, dance, and comedy along with the different performers that do juggling, gymnastic type feats, etc.

Valley of the Fire isn't far and has some good hikes. There's a cool spot that has cave drawings covering the rocks depicting Aliens.

Just saw Piff the Magic Dragon and it was amazing. Quite crude but there were some kids there, one even participated in the show.
