Ik you didn’t mention it in the OP but some food recs
Randy’s huli huli chicken
Lava Lava beach club
Black rock pizza
Coffee shack
If you get to coffee shack about 15-20 minutes before they open you can get the best seat in place, which is an amazing view of the mountains and the ocean while you eat breakfast. I highly recommend

I’ve been twice, stayed at the Mission Point resort both times. Plenty to do at the resort and on the island as well. It doesn’t get dark during the summer until around 10pm so you’ll have plenty of time for dinner plans and other stuff. 2 days in the island is plenty and 3 days would be my absolute max. Visit both mission point and the grand hotel. the grand had multiple restaurants and bars, be sure to go during the day because they have a dress code at night. Grab a drink at the round island bar and grill across from mission point. We ate dinner at 1852 Grill room, nice atmosphere and drinks.
Also take the ferry from St. Ignace instead of Mackinac City, it is far less crowded which makes it easier to get to and from the island.

Banff vs. Canmore
Posted by ChickenWing99 on 6/3/25 at 8:56 pm
What are some pros and cons of staying in each town. Some say Canmore is a little less touristy and slightly cheaper, but further from the NP. Headed up around mid July; which in your opinion is better. Any other recs for the area welcome also. (Flying into Calgary and taking a rental)

re: Steamboat Springs - Airport Transfer Tips

Went to Steamboat for Mardi Gras of 2022 and used steamboat express shuttle. Pretty expensive but I thought it was worth it. Sprinter van picked us up as soon as we grabbed our luggage. We also had 6 children 4 of which were 6 and under including a 4 month old, that is part of the reason why I say it’s worth it. Car seat situation was taken care of, adequate seats for all children. Good experience for both arrival and departure.
re: Michigan & Wisconsin trip in September....

Made pretty much the same trip this past June. Flew into Grand Rapids and out of MKE. We drove straight to Mackinac Island and stayed 2 nights at mission point resort. I highly recommend exploring the UP. Pictured rocks national lakeshore, the Soo locks in Sault St. Marie, and Kitch-iti-kipi natural spring are great places to stop in the UP.
When you go to Mackinac, take the shepplers ferry from St. Ignace rather than Mackinac City it is far less crowded. After the UP we stayed in an Airbnb in Algoma (few miles outside of door county) on Lake Michigan. We spent one day in Green Bay touring Lambeau which was worth it. Door County also has a lot to offer.

re: Big Island resort recommendation

Didn’t stay at a resort but the wife and I went earlier this year. We stayed at an Airbnb on a coffee farm in Captain Cook and rented a jeep. Did a few hikes and saw some great beaches(Black sand). Big Island has a lot more of a local feel than I imagine other islands do, which is great if you’re into that. I highly recommend the poke and huli huli chicken.
Also, There are no private beaches on the big island, so you can go to the four seasons and have access to the beach their without being a guest.

Horseshoe Bend is a must, I also recommend eating at either Birdhouse or Big John’s BBQ in Page. Lunch at one and supper at the other if you have time. Before you get out of Flagstaff heading to Page, make sure your tank is full and you have plenty of road snacks because there is not much between those two destinations.
Snow Canyon State park in St. George also has some pretty nice hikes.

Estes park, RMNP, sounds like you’ll be close to FoCo, there’s plenty to do there. If you’re ok with making the trip steamboat springs is a must, I recommend the strawberry springs if you go there but you have to have a res.
Boulder is pretty nice as well, if you are into hiking, the flatirons is fairly easy hike with a great view of Boulder and CU.
If you’re looking for small town vines just head north to Cheyenne. Went there during the summer of 2020 and it was about as normal as a place could be during those times.

re: Disney w/ Kids (Prayers) Recommendations

I would make the majority of your dining reservations for breakfast. It sucks having to get up early to make it, but then you have the rest of your day and you don’t have to worry about planning around a character lunch or supper.
If you rent a stroller I recommend Kingdom Strollers in Orlando. ( Not directly affiliated w/ Disney) They deliver the stroller to the front lobby of your hotel the day you get there and come get it the day you leave, it was super easy.

We stayed in the town and rode the free shuttle everyday to the mountain, we were only about a 5 minute walk to the bus stop. They have a ski valet and lockers at the base of the mountain so there is no need to carry your stuff back and forth each day on the shuttle. Just about all the dining options are walking distance within the town, same goes for the grocery store. I have never stayed in the village but some family that were with us have and they said they preferred the town.
