Trying to set up a trip to Prague/ Europe. Should I use a travel agent?

Or is that just a waste of time these days

This…
Prague is a small; but, gorgeous city. Book a flight. Find a hotel or an AirBnB. Stay in the Old Town area. Do a day trip to Cesky Krumlov and drink an original Budvar/Budweiser. Go to Pilsner Urquell in the historic Old Town. Do the Black Angel’s bar too. There are walking tours offered and many are for free. Expedia and Viator are a great place to start.
If in that part of the world; Budapest and Vienna are easy adds. Hitting all three in a week is very doable.

Travel agents are a waste. Book your itinerary and book. Add few walking days through Viator.

Ok thanks guys. Been to Prague but it’s been 20 years.

You don't need a travel agent.
We are going to Prague for the first time in April. We are staying at the Augustine Hotel which is still a working monastery with monks on the premises. The city appears to be very walkable and there are a number of very good restaurants nearby. The hotel is in a central location and should be nice and quiet unless the monks drink too much wine.

Half of the fun for me is fleshing out the trip, where I'll stay and what I want to see so I do all of my planning and booking myself.

Travel agents are good to use when traveling for business and someone else is paying for your trip. Other than that I plan my own travel.

Waste of time. Do it yourself so you can one gain experience in setting up trips, two only blame yourself if something goes wrong.

If you are willing to put in even slight effort, there is no need for a travel agent to go to one city.
More complicated trips and you being very short on time to prepare, sure.

In most cases, travel agents are wastes of time if you truly enjoy fleshing out trips. Some people don't really like doing this. They just want to show up and travel.
Good travel agents don't cost much, if anything, because they are paid commissions by the hotels, tours, etc. that are booked. Plus, they can get perks and set up experiences that would be very difficult for a typical traveler to find. That is, a good agent can do all of this. I have a recommendation for a good one, if you are interested.

We have used TikTok and instagram to plan our trips. (Hotels, VRBOs, restaurants, tours, ets)
The videos and recommendations are real world reviews. Cuts out the bias and bots on online reviews.
Traveled all over the world, and we haven’t been disappointed yet.
Just my two cents.
Would never use a travel agent.

I get immersed in the details (venues, geography, schedule, logistics) of my itinerary beforehand.
I leave space in it for locals’ recs, weather and serendipity.
It’s helpful if/when one has to go to Plan B or C (whether either if it’s my fault, a venue’s fault or a third party’s fault).

You Tube is a great tool for trip planning. I used it for a Prague-Vienna trip last December, which was Christmas market heavy on activities.
When you see places show up in a lot of "top 5 or 10" things to do videos, it can help you decide on whether to see it.
