On our Dallas-San Antonio round trip SW flight this weekend they didn't go full drink service & no food snacks. They brought out water in a cup for everyone who wanted it. Looks like they are now doing this on flights that are less than an hour.
Same experience the last 3-4 times I've flown from Love to Hobby or San Antonio

I think other airlines have been doing that for a while now on short regional flights. I can’t remember the last time they did full beverage service on an AEX-DFW flight on American.

I'll have to call BS on your 'refused to let passengers sit in center seats'...that did NOT happen !
Happened to me before, why do you think that's so absurd? I wanted to sit close to the front because I was running very late for something and a girl had a bag on the middle seat. I asked her nicely to move it and her gen z brain went haywire and the flight attendant even said "sir there are aisle and window seats further back" and wouldn't make the girl move it.
I still fly SWA a lot because of Love Field but I really don't like the experience anymore and especially not the price you pay for it.

I think too that Southwest for some time hedged a lot of fuel at $51/barrel when all other airlines were paying over $100/barrel. They were able to offer very attractive fares over all others for several years. The hedge program became less successful so it ended but the low fare passengers keep coming.

Their hedges mostly expired around about the time they acquired AirTran, so it was a double barreled enshittification. It's just farther back than anyone remembers, because the only fares that were cheaper out of HOU even a decade ago were the first and last flights out, and then it was still on par or more expensive than UA.

I mean, it’s a 40 minute flight, you hardly even level out. Out of all the stuff to bitch about, I just don’t care about this.
And I’ve taken that flight probably 10 times

Because a passenger has no right to deny you a seat because they have their 'bag' resting on an open seat !

Having TPA as my hub, I always know where my gate is based on the sheer number of red wheelchair poles at the gate. I counted 18 once and that was just wheelchairs.

I've never seen this like others often claim. Maybe its the market I'm in, but United is always competitive.
I never flew SW because it was cheaper. It was due to the RR point earning/spending potential, larger aircraft, no change fees, etc...

I fly the best schedule/lowest price between AA and SWA.
I prefer DFW as an airport. Security is easier to get through. Love during peak travel is very congested. Inconvenient on return trips if you fly into different concourse.

C Gates at TPA is the start of so many in flight miracles, it should be canonized by this new American pope.

Yeah if you have precheck at Love Field that is about as easy as it gets.

The person ended up as B10 despite paying the $30 for early check in
Last year I used early bird for a flight out of Panama City FL. Ended up with B1 which isn't normally a big deal. But families with children are allowed to board before the B group. It's a beach destination and more than 60 people boarded with this group (all legitimate). I counted. So realistically I got in C group with my "early bird". It sucked but it would have been awful without the early bird.

Southwest always sucked. I never understood why they had such a strong following
you must be young. For many years SW was the best airline in the country by flyer ratings and it wasn't even close.

They missed the most important change.
Herb Kelleher - He was the integrity of the business. When he stepped down the bean counters took over.
I was flying from San Antonio to Dallas and Herb Kelleher was waiting on the plane and shook every customer's hand and thanked them for flying Southwest. When we were in the air, he walked to the back of the plane and started randomly interviewing passengers.
He asked
1.What are we doing well?
2.Where can we improve?
3. Is there anything else about your experience I should know?
The flight attendant mentioned he did this once a month and even checked bags.
In my years of flying I've never met an airline executive at the airport or on a plane. This is why flying sucks. The don't understand the customer experience.

what was your issue? I’ve flown spirit direct from MSY to Cancun, Nashville and Orlando so far this year and each time the planes have been brand new, we got the big seats up front with the blocked middle seat, and it’s been as pleasant as air travel can be
